OK. So I should sell the 4R and get a Kia. Yeah, right.

the telluride is badass. Now it’s 50k price tag for a Kia, on the other hand

If it's an SUV all the reviewers care about is the following...

    -Luxurious interior
    -Seating for seven
    -MPG
    -Gadgets, gizmos
    -Safety

If it doesn't check those boxes they could care less and won't recommend. By those metrics a damn Dodge Journey is more recommended than a 4Runner.

Who's Motorstalebread? But also SUV vs CUV and they only base it on how much tech is packed into the vehicle. You all want this tech though.

Apparently CR did not get enough of a kickback? Or they just knocked it down since its so old school and not enough new stuff to go wrong?

It has the same visibility issues as off-road vehicles like the jeep. Well, maybe you should compare the body on frame, basically a truck, 4Runner to the jeep, or other off road vehicles and not the minivan suvs like the telluride?

These are things they didn't like:

    1. How "high" the "climb" was to get into the 4Runner
    2. Clumsy handling and an unsettling ride
    3. Low ceiling height
    4. Visibility
    5. Loud engine "roar"
    6. No "automatic" four wheel drive

These CR people obviously don't camp, don't off road and the only dirt their own vehicle, usually a car, will ever see will be dirt that's fallen off a 4Runner when it gets back on the pavement.
About the only point I can agree is the clumsy handling...they obviously didn't get a model with KDSS.
As for the "automatic" four wheel drive, come on...

CRs are ripping an entire model of vehicle because their test model didn't have a certain feature that's available on other models.

I'd be curious how CR rates the Range Rover...a paragon of reliability and longevity, but doesn't hurt the CR's precious ears with its lack of engine roar.

If it aint Honda, CR rates it poor. Highest resell vehicle in the world? Jeep Wrangler. They usually rate it in the mid 50's.

I actually traded in my dodge journey for my 4runner! Not gonna lie, it got the job done and it was a dodge journey so it didn’t matter what you did to it;)

    Consumer Reports sucks balls.

A few years ago they called the Ridgeline the best midsize truck while, in their article it said that it wasn't good at doing truck things. That's some of the stupidest shit I've ever heard.

Besides, the things they don't like about the 4Runner are probably the things that we all do like about the 4Runner.

If I'm not mistaken, the 4Runner is close behind the Wrangler for resale as well.

I sort of like the roar of the engine .

I mean I’m a guy in my 40s I don’t want something totally quiet. I mean this is not a Ford C-Max come on CR.

The true gauge is right here on this forum. Looking to CR for reviews is like looking at the menu at a vegan restaurant for a good ribeye. You want to know about 4Runners? Do some research right here.

Consumer reports won't be happy until it's a turbo 4 cylinder 10 speed unibody grocery getter

I want them to add a Toyota 4.7L or 5.7L and Aisin HD 6-speed rated for pulling 35k pounds and 1000 foot pounds torque.

Maybe a bad Consumer Reports rating will discourage the grocery-getter crowd and leave more 4Runners available for us, and reduce that 6 month waiting period.

I've met some of those said editors, nice folks, but alot of them are not car folks, they write articles for the masses, think of it like movie critics, they may write a terrible review on a movie but doesn't mean you or I won't enjoy it.

Best example for me personally was my last truck, I got new ram rebel, was one of 10best from c&d , I shopped logically, it was a good truck, mine luckily didnt have issues, I had big screen, 35s, quiet like a Lexus, but I had no emotion for it, but I loooove my Tundra, lots of these critics live in a world where reality is kinda skewed.

Every time there is a less than flattering review of the 4Runner, the reasons they DON'T like it are the exact reasons I've bought three of them.
I'm very surprised if people are cross shopping a Kia Telluride (which seems to be a fine mom car and a great family vacation hauler) and the 4Runner.

They're reviewing these for the masses. For people who are simply looking for a midsize SUV. By the metrics they're looking at, of course the 4Runner isn't going to do well.

Most people won't drive off the pavement, most people care about gas mileage, most people want the latest tech, most people won't keep a vehicle long enough for reliability to really matter.

If you don't think the Telluride is the better vehicle for most people, you're simply not looking at it objectively.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
The 4Runner isn't fansy enough for the media.

On the flip side, my 4Runner is too fansy for me. I wish it was less fansy and cost less. I bet that's part of what's pushing people towards the Ford Maverick. The ford execs were surprised by how popular the Maverick turned out to be. How out of touch they are.

Toyota 4x4 prices are definitely getting out of control. I'm scared to see what a base 4x4 6th gen is going to cost
