I removed my 4runner's onboard 120V inverter, with the intention to re-use/re-purpose the high amperage wires (which carried the 12V into the inverter) for recharging a separate lithium battery pack I added in the back. (I wanted access to the 400W for charging instead of the normal 120W from the standard 12V cigarette lighter socket.)

However, as far as I can tell these wires are not energized by default, presumably switched on/off via a relay. Removing the inverter also seems to have removed functionality from the 400W inverter push-switch on the dash (i.e. it doesn't switch anything on/off and the LEDs on this button no longer light up in any toggle state).

Anyone happen to know if what I'm trying is possible?
