Wouldn’t pass smog.

Well I read through gatorgrls entire thread again. I’m going to replace the 2 relays that cured her problem, our problems with this (limp mode) mirror each other to the…T. I sure wish I’d have paid closer attention to her posts and tried this in the first place when the mechanics couldn’t get my problem under control.

Going to be nuts if it works, $130 in relays is what was wrong from the start…..LOL. On the bright side if it does work I’ve got a brand new 4runner under the hood along with the gaggle of other things I’ve replaced !

I’ll report back when they get here and are replaced.

 

Well…..$300 and the new knock sensor and wire are back in the stock location.



Going to be a few more days to get it back together, trying to find the correct o rings for the top of the injectors and sciatica, arthritis, 3 herniated disks are slowing me down. Also going to share some things those so called mechanics left me with after another $1000 dollars.

 

Well…….it’s over.

My 4Runner is running fantastic. The factory Knock Sensor and connect from Yotashop worked. Damn……7 months, countless hours, some blood sweat and tears, $$$$. I think in total I’m somewhere around $6000 spent and I’m riding off into the sunset.

I’m glad I kept at. Many, many road trips on the horizon.

I ended up NOT replacing any of them. I did buy a spare ECM and swapped out my original but it wasn’t the problem. After the switch still had the same codes.

My suggestion would be to pin yours out and see if you get any codes and start there.
