    Hello all:

    I have two questions.

    1. Have any of you ordered the "Trail Running Boards"? Did you install them yourself or did they come from the factory? Are you happy with them? Pictures would be great; the ones on the Toyota site are not very good.

    2. Have any of you painted the silver rails on the roof rack? Did you do it on the truck or pull them off? Paint, wrap? I can't stand the look of the silver on them.

    Thanks,

Depend on the intended use. If you are looking for body protection when off roading the Toyota trail running boards are useless. If all you want is a step they would suffice. I recommend looking at after market rock sliders from Westcott Designs, RSG, RCI, Caliraised or other reputable source. They are pricey but keep in mind they are protecting a $40-50k investment. I have the Westcott 0 degree no kick out and I couldn’t be happier.

For me they are to keep salt/slush/rocks from pelting the lower door sections and to protect against DB's in parking lots from slamming their doors into it. I have never been in the situation where I would need true sliders. My YJ had a set and they looked brand new after being on there for five years. Most of my off roading is on farm lanes, mountain roads and pastures.
