This may be totally off base but, I have a 2020 SR5 4 Runner that I purchased brand new. When I get behind the wheel and depress the Map button I get a moving map showing wherever I am located and I can schedule a trip anywhere in the US with directions. Last week I purchased a 2019 Camry XLE that just came off lease and when I get behind the wheel and depress the Map button I get a message on the screen that says, “The Navigation APP is not installed. Please check Toyota website for compatible applications”. Does this mean I have to use a Mobil phone to access and use the map feature in the car. Is there a APP that I can get and use without a Mobil phone?

Correct. The Camry should have Android Auto and Apple Carplay and the expectation is you will use your phone mapping on on of those platforms.

I don 't think you can update any apps to get navigation. If you don't use a phone with AA or ACP then your only real alternative is a GPS.

Beware of the Toyota maps, they are just garbage and I would use them only as a last resort. I did a test between that and Waze and the routing was vastly different and inefficient on the Toyota side.

Yea, I found that out on a trip I took last year. I tried following the Toyota maps and wound up going all the way around the west side of Indianapolis to go east. Forgot to punch in Waze instead. My fault.

I tried the GPS out on a trip and I was too lazy to figure out the route ahead of time and let it router me and ended up driving 10 miles on gravel between the two towns, not sure what I had set that allowed it to route me on gravel. It was just after a rain and I got Blue all filthy.
