Ok I'm new so go easy on me, but are you doing a BMC because you jumping up to like 35's or something? Don't the spacers push you away from the mount? I thought BMC was kinda reserved for going really big on the tires.

When you push wheels out (with spacers, or different wheel offsets) in increases the radius of the wheel when you steer.

Imagine standing in a small closet holding a beer coaster against your chest, and spin around on your feet... now stick your arms out in front of you (wheel spacers) and spin around... notice how you're knocking things off the shelf?

Now, Imagine you change out the beer coaster for a bicycle wheel (increasing wheel diameter)... you're going to be hitting the walls way sooner in the course of your arc.

Basically, increasing one thing is compounded by increasing the other... but they interact with each other to different degrees.

That's part of the reason why so many people here have conflicting experience whether certain diameter tires rub or not... subtle differences in tire diameter across brands compounded with different wheel offsets and alignment values...

Ah, thank you, I guess I didn't really think about how far the wheels turned inside the well, but it makes sense. I'm actually ordering wheels today, saw the post and got curious. I'm only going from the stock +15 to a +0 though so wasn't exactly worried, however I like a the look of some good poke past the fender and will probably look into spacers/285's once my current 265's wear out.

Probably two soft pouches I already have, a 4x4 (molle row) and a 4x2. Plan to build my own trauma/wilderness first aid kit into the larger one, as I haven't found a pre-built one that matches my skills, needs, and wants.

From there my general principle is "stuff I need all the time or stuff I need right away if I need it." First aid and recovery equipment clearly meet that criteria for me.

What's not clear for me is the fire extinguisher. I know I don't want a metal cylinder turning into a projectile, but surely with two metal bands it should stay put? Basically, I know the answer is "don't do that" but I haven't internalized it yet.

What would you put up there?

Looks like a good move. I don't foresee a need for two of them and it would prevent the handle bar of my mountain bike from possibly going thru that window when I have it stowed in there.

Yeah - I don't expect to fill this one up, plus with only the driver's side I don't lose any visibility.

Good call on the Molle protecting the glass from whatever's in the back; hadn't even thought of that.

I thought about cutting a hole in a tennis ball and put it on the end of the handlebar, but this solves that problem and provides additional mounting storage. What was the cost? Thanks!

$209.99 - if you get it from Cali Raised LED (not Cali Raised Off-ROad) I think shipping is free. They also have a military/first responder discount.

I just did the bmc and trimmed the lower part of the fender. I'm running a 285 70 17 and now there's a ton of room.

    All of them.
Dropped the wife’s bumper off for powder, ordered a Baja onyx 30” for it and changed her oil. Also getting the jeep cleaned up and headed to the shop Tuesday for new gears.

What was your turn around quoted on powder? I feel like every time I need something powdered it is automatically '4-6 weeks'. lol

Reasonable SWR, but you know you'll have an offset antenna radiation pattern by placing the antenna on the back and below roof level?

So been contemplating a Yeti cooler for some of our weekend/overnight ventures bc the traditional coolers which don’t keep ice worth a poo….

God smiled on me and I freakin won this cooler today… while not quite a big as I wanted This ought to work out just swell!

Now to nail down a retention strategy- it appears to have a groove meant for a strap so ought to be a no brainer.

I was surprised also. I figured it would give the wheels more depth which is what I wanted. I was quite liking the no center cap look also. :)

Spent some quality time underneath the 4runner touching up the initial Woolwax application from last summer. After close to 20,000 road miles, at least 500 of those being off road and gravel, and one nasty salty winter.., not a spot of rust underneath to be found…

It’s only been a year, but as I looked around, the only area that needed touch up was the front of the lower rear shock bolts, and the front of the pumpkin. Also the front of the LCA.

But that didnt stop me from laying it on a bit thicker in various areas. I used a brush for touch up. Kind of wish I would have done that to begin with. Although the inside of the frame rails and crossmembers would have needed to be sprayed regardless.

The underside looks like the bottom of 30 year old leaky diesel work truck that splashed through oil spills, but it was beautiful anyway.

I thought some areas looked rusty, but spot wiping revealed shiny black paint underneath.

Yes nothing beats a center of roof antenna with a large ground plane. And there’s also not a trail within 200 miles that I could run without ripping it off. It works as good as it needs to and is easy to get to when it needs to come off on a trail. It’s only real use to me is highway transit for traffic related things. Gmrs is all anyone I know uses for comms on the trail

Honestly I didn’t ask. This shop has done a lot of stuff for me and usually I drop it off, tell the color and they call me when it’s done. Id assume 2-3 weeks since that’s usually how it goes. Sometimes sooner if they already have something bigger of that color going in. I’ve only rushed them once and that was for a set of sliders that I got back in a week only because I had a trip coming up that way spur of the moment.
