Hello, I know "What wheel size....." questions have been beat to death, but I've got a question..
I swapped the stock wheels over to the truck I'm selling, and put my Fuel "Beast" wheels on my new 22 TRD ORP. The Fuels are 17x9 with Offset: -12. The wheels look so much nicer that those fugly silver factory wheels.

I'll eventually lift this, no more than a couple of inches leveled, or 3" at the most. It's a DD, and I doubt it will see much wheeling other than the farm down the road. I don't have questions about types of lifts or anything like that. I'm stock for the time being, and want to put 285/70/17's on it now. Probably Falken WildPeak AT3 or Toyo Open County AT III, as they are available as SL rated, have nice tread, and are snowflake rated. Will I be able to fit these tires under my rig without a lift? I can swap back to the factory wheels if necessary, but I'd rather keep my Fuels. I'm not scared to cut a little if I absolutely have to. I've been a Jeep guy for almost 20 years, and wheeled just as long. So I've done my fair share of "trimming."

This beast is so new, It's still got temp plates. I wasn't satisfied with the dealership "paint protection coating" they put on my Tacoma, so I detailed my own paint. Thanks for the help, this is a cool site.

My understanding is that lifting is just a band aid that works if you just stick to the malls. When you bottom out the suspension it will rub unless you did whatever was needed to stop the rubbing at stock height. I think I've read that some have run 285/70s with the stock +15 offset wheel with minimal adjustment but a 9" wheel with -12 offset would take some cutting to work.

I recently put on 265/70 R17 Wildpeak A/T3W with American Outlaw wheels -10 offset and I rub in reverse and when turning sharp in drive. Nothing too bad, but enough for me to have a reason to buy a leveling kit. ;) I know they’re different sizes than you mentioned, but maybe it’ll give you an idea.
