What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Sure thing. It’s a 2” one. Can’t miss it just make a small slit then pull the grommet out and shove it through. Make a small hole cause the rubber is stretchy. The whole coax plug will very easily go through. I always cut the plug off tho then trim coax to exact legth I need to reach my radios then I solder on a new pl259. Also wires that I run into my cab that have a less than perfect seal I create a dip/ low drip point so it can’t follow the wires inside.

 

Funny the box said that. They do look well built, I’ll post up some side by side comparisons when I get them on this weekend

When you say “SR5”- I think you are referring to the B pillar? It’s TRD in mine- anyway - i put on the logo black out pieces and for the Red color I put on top of it a vinyl lettering kit from TVD Vinyl.
I didnt do the back in red but it could be. If you send a message to the contact us at TVD and tell them what you’re looking for, Rich will reply and quote you for what you want specifically. You can pick the color- see their website.
One might ask why not just paint the black out piece but it would not look good as the “voids” arent voids on the black out kit and it would look like a blob. If that makes sense.

As for the grille- I ordered mine from Taco Vinyl and they offer painting the TOYOTA letters for an added fee. However, you can also have TVD Vinyl make you vinyl letters to put over them.

The vinyl TVD Vinyl uses is totally top notch stuff. It is super thin so it looks like paint actually.

The theory is the undercarriage light will deter rodents when in the field. As to not forget to turn the lights on before bed and/or off in the morning installed a photosensor (above the driver rock slider) to manage on/off with dusk/dawn. To avoid the lights coming on at the mall, installed a main power switch with a red indicator to note when the system is on/off. And placed it facing away from the cabin so that the red light is not as noticeable when sleeping in the field when the system would be on. For now, connected temporarily and is not hardwired until proven functional.

Update: Thus far works as intended overnight in the garage with the undercarriage lights on in the dark and off when the ceiling lights are turned on. And the moment the ceiling lights are off the undercarriage lights come on. If time is available tomorrow could hardwire them then.

 

After everyone went to bed I just went to the garage installed it( takes 1 min), I had to take it for a drive....I have to admit it fixes the 4runners stugglishness. I set it on sport 2 and went down to the highway and ran a exit down and back. I'm impressed. Kinda wonder why the 4runners response is so slow from the factory. Can't believe I waited this long. Great product, now I'm able to keep up with traffic

Lol. I only bought one 2x6 (8ft), and my friend had some 2x4s in his shop, so...

Ramps and jacks make me sketchy. I don't know. I didn't even look at ramps. This was a co-worker's suggestion. Plus, it gave me an idea of how my vehicle will feel once it's lifted.

I had a small Badland winch from Harbor Freight on my Willys but never used it before giving it to my son but I hear good things about the Badland brand

 

Does anyone know if this (or similar devices) do the same thing as the OEM Eco/Sport modes that the RAV4 or highlanders have? Or do the OEM options do more than change throttle response?

I agree with the rest of the group here. They are a great addition. My only suggestion is to watch your mileage after install…

 

exactly, in this bay area traffic I have a better response when I need to get over. quickly.. I tend to leave mines on city 2 mode..

 

Why should I watch the mileage?

 

Today I vinyl wrapped the silver lower front valence/bumper cover.
It’s an excellent complement to the grille bar I feel.

 

After I installed my lift I've been debating about putting wheel spacers on just the front. Well today I did, since I had a pair of spidertrax in the garage. Now I absolutely love the stance. -12 offset and 1.25" spacers



Rubs like a s.o.b though, bmc and extra trimming happening next week.

 

Took the 4Runner to the beach for the first time. It is interesting driving mud terrain tires on sand. Probably not the best tires but it made it more interesting. Even put on the front and rear lockers and it was fun going up the sand mounds. Anyways picture time…

 

Air them down to about 15-18 psi and see how you like them.

 

Oh I did. I had them at 15. They were much better than aired up. But still a little too chunky for sand. I believe tires that have smaller lugs would be better. But they went through everything so no complaints.

 

Because for a while you will enjoy the throttle response a little too much.

 

This is the first concept of the next Gen 4Runner that I actually like. Too much red in that interior though.
