Any easy way to add a 120VAC outlet inside the center console?

Apparently, 5th Gens used to have to 120VAC outlets, one in the back cargo at the wheel well, and one inside the center console. They took out the center console one, sadly. Has anyone added one back?

My '20 has a cigarette lighter outlet in the center console... I don't know about other years. I got a cheap inverter that plugs into that.

It'll put out some heat, so don't run it constantly with the lid closed... just as needed. It's not super powerful at 120W, but it does what I need.

Something like this, but I remember it being on sale and about half that price.

Trying to get away from having to use a plug-in inverter

I put a double socket one in the dash behind the head unit an ran the cords from my Garmin and dash cam to it. Super easy to run it under the console and into the compartment. You need a 10mm socket with an extension, a trim removal tool or flat tip screwdriver for the console. You can do it!

Oops I need new glasses. I thought it said 12V. I don’t know how you would run 120V AC there

    Please excuse my poor knowledge.
Curious what is the use case to have 120v in center console? Converting 12v to 120v is an in-efficient way right? Using a 12v cooler or a 12v food warmer or any 12v accessory is the best way right? Even at the back of 4Runner I'm not happy to have a 400W peak inverter. A 1500W outlet like on hybrids would be good to have imo.
Again please excuse my poor knowledge on this. Happy to learn.

I occasionally shave on my drive into work, and the battery runs out occasionally. I can always get an inverter that plugs into the round 12V outlet, but it's kinda hokey. The 5th Gen 4R used to have a 129V in the center console, but eliminated it for some reason.

It's funny, I could have sworn I had the cigarette style plug in my 2013, but then when I went to plug in my GMRS radio and hide the receiver in there, I found the 120V plug. I was disappointed, I was planning on plugging the cigarette lighter style plug into that. Instead, I had to plug it into the dash, and take out my USB charger adapter.

I still haven't figured out how I want to wire that GMRS in, I guess I'll have to hardwire it somehow unless I can just cut off the plug and change it.

You'd just need to find some space to hard wire in an inverter. Most have a cig lighter socket, which you can take apart and grab positive and negative from. Some of the higher output inverters will have to be hard wired to the battery, like a car audio amplifier. Depending on what you plan on powering with it, you may be able to tag into the factory cig lighter wiring. Otherwise, go to the battery and throw a fuse on it to be safe. Shouldn't be any more difficult than wiring in an amp.

There's already an inverter in the 4Runner - there's a 120v plug in the rear cargo area. Just need to figure out how to tap into what's already there and mount it in the center console.

You already have an inverter in back. Just extend it. You could plug an AC power cord into that and run it thorough panels, under the carpet, and up into the center console box.
Maybe add a panel mount marine AC power outlet. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0825X6T7B

Agree. And it would be cheaper to get a rechargeable shaver.
