My 2022 4runner with Method wheels have a very minor wheel vibration at 65 mph. It was so minor that I didn't even bother checking on it. Yesterday, I tool it to a dealer for it's 5k service which only was for tire rotation. Now, it has a terrible wheel vibration going past 55 mph. Where should I start looking?

You need to get your tires balanced.

Go to someone that can road force balance them......people have the best luck if they are balanced on a Hunter machine.

Call around and see if any tire shops (or your dealer) has one.

Are your wheels hubcentric? If not, one bolt tightened more than another will give you vibes. I learned my lesson years ago on a Tacoma and now only run hubcentric wheels on Toyota’s.

What size wheels and tires? Is the vibration in the steering wheel or does it feel like it's coming from the back end now? One option is to use the spare tire to try to isolate the will and tire with the problem, then mark it and make sure they fix it right

I don’t understand how if all tires are ‘properly balanced’ and in Spec that people have issues after a simple tire rotation. I never experienced that on any vehicle ever and literally am dreading my first tire rotation after the stuff I see here as I already fought the fight of the steering wheel shimmy @ 2 miles

The forerunners front end design and geometry make it very susceptible to very minor imperfections in the wills, tires and road. This thing's made to hold up in war zones and crawling over rocks not riding like a Cadillac at highway speeds I don't think I've ever been in one that didn't vibrate or shake some on the highway

My Method wheels are hub centric.

I am thinking is that the lug nuts were over torqued using an impact gun. Can I just loosen the lugs and re torqued the nuts while the vehicle is on the ground? Or do I need to raise it off the ground?

I do 60 ft lb off the ground then 78 on the ground get it up the highway speed and then re-torque it on the ground to 80 but adjusting torque rarely fixes anything like this

I bought the wheels and tires from Tire Rack. It was fine until the tire rotation yesterday.

Wheels are 17x8.5; tires are 265x70x17. Vibration is on the steering wheel.

That being the case, you need to find a tire installation place with a Hunter road force machine as @nimby suggested.

You'll notice tire and wheel imperfections and imbalance much more when you put them on the front then in the rear had start with just getting the front tires balanced if you don't want to try to isolate the issue with the spare

The wheels and tires were delivered from Tire Rack balanced. I only took it to a gas station for them to swap the oem wheels with the Method wheels.

I can't put the spare in there as I have a TRD Sport. The spare is the oem 20 inch wheel/tire just like the Limited.

You can do it on the ground. Just don’t loosen all 6 at the same time. I have had a whole bunch of Toyotas, never heard about the finicky lug nut torque thing. Wow crazy. Find a Discount Tire and go there from now on. You can go back as often as you need to get it riding right.

So Tire Rack says. Unless you get them done locally, you'll have to live with the vibraton. Let TR know of the issue. They'll probably recommend or find a shop nearby you can use.

Yes road Force balance anytime you're having issues with vibration if it doesn't work on a regular computer. Balancer you'll be taking it to a road force machine afterwards anyway

I just get the front tires road force balance then if you don't want to play around with moving back, tires to the front one by one to try to isolate it so you only have to pay to balance one tire

I had a shake and finally on my 5th time each at a different Discount Tire they finally road force balanced them. That finally fixed the issue. I was about to force them to replace the tires.

Did they make you pay extra for the RF balance?

Discount tire shop near me was really good on road force balance. I had the issue on my brand new 2021 TRD Pro.
Can't believe how poor quality it had from Toyota especially with the higher price tag.. I had to do alignment as well. My other 4Runners that came directly from factory in Japan was in far better quality.

Really? My 22 is glass smooth at any speed. Come to think of it, so was my 17. What exactly is it about the "front end design and geometry" that is a problem?

My solid front axle grand Cherokee’s had a smoother ride, and that’s with 100,000 miles + on them. Something just doesn’t seem right.

My straight axle Cummins road smooth because of the weight in the front from the 67 but my straight axle hemi 64 road like crap in the front. Felt like the tires would come off the road on the highway when you had small bumps lol

I'm not sure but when I looked at it there were small thin parts going all over the place. It looked incredibly complicated

As seen on alignment machine screen lot of reds. The shop invited me in to show bad alignment spec and said "are you sure you want to pay for alignment? since this is brand new you can take it back to Toyota to fix.". I opt to pay out of pocket and get it fixed right.
