....was the question from the tech advisor at Toyota this week.

Front passenger shock makes the famous Pro clunk. I've been holding off on bringing the truck in because I'd read here that the warranty replacements made the same noise.
Anyways, I seem to have marked the dealership badly because of my relatively-minor mods. So much so that the advisor wanted to make sure I hadn't dicked with the suspension. Hilarious.

Regardless, I have an appointment this coming week to replace it. Curious to see if the noise reoccurs.

PS: According to my delearship, they aren't aware of any issues with clunks on Pro shocks. There's a shock *rolls eyes*

there is a published TSB on the clunk issue. Search on this forum or the other one. I think you will be able to find it and take it with you to dealer

It’s been pretty reported on the forums.

Seems to be a cold weather thing.

    This.
Corrective action is to replace with 2021+ coil overs. But seems it still may be an issue….haven’t heard this though. No issue with mine, but I am in mid Atlantic so probably won’t see it.

So, dropped the truck off again yesterday for the shock replacement which was diagnosed the week earlier.
'Xceptin' that they received the wrong shock LOL.

I joked with the service advisor about how incredible it is to need a serial number to buy windshield wipers and yet still manage to order wrong parts.

Replacement is BO, I'm curious to see if the replacement has the same part #.

Shock was replaced on Thursday, front passenger side only. No clunking, but it's above freezing so I wouldn't know anyways.

Peter, your dealer should have changed both shock, it's even stipulated on the TSB. There is a Canadian TSB, double check with Toyota, my dealer in Quebec City changed them on both sides.

Just rechecked my invoice, one shock, part # PTR61-89200-RF.
Oh, and they did an alignment...because they replaced a shock. Is it just me, or....?

Update: Below freezing this am and the truck slept outside like the dirty tramp that she is.
No clunks whatsoever, so looking good.

so did they only replace one shock?
As far as I know they’re supposed to replace both with the 2021+ trd pro fox shocks.

Peter not to nag you on this, but the new struts have a different coils, if your dealer is refusing to change the other struts he is not doing his job. If you plan in the future on doing anything to your suspension, like a lift and keeping your Fox shocks, you will have a problem because each strut will have a different coil.

Good point. I'll do some research and try to get some official docs showing the proper procedure. I'll also look under thr truck and see what they actually replaced.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

Well, they definitely replaced only one side, and not the spring. Just hoping that the replacement is identical in damping rates etc, but can't feel anything different. Other than the fact that the lack of clunking reminds me that the truck is only a coupla yrs old (bought new in March 2020)
