I’ve got a new 22 ORP without KDSS I just picked up in January. My first 4Runner which I’ve always wanted and I love this truck! Anyways, I bought a Bilstein 6112 kit for the front (want them at 2.2”) and 5100s for the rear with B12 springs (1.5”). Also picked up some 275/70r17 WildPeaks. All good so far.

Asked my local 4x4 shop what it would cost to install everything for me. They provided an estimate as follows
    - install customer-provided front springs/shocks (they’re unassembled) @ $375
    - install ECGS needle bearing eliminator kit, replace axle seal and refill diff (to avoid intermittent harmonic vibration) @ $410
    - Toytec diff drop + install @ $141
    - Toytec front sway bar drops for geometry correction and install @ $163
    - install customer-provided rear shocks/springs and add Spacer coil .5” and new Timbren Active off road bump stops @ $589
    - mount/balance tires @ $100
    - Alignment @ $108

all told, including $300 more for a 275 cheapie tire to be mounted on my spare they want almost $2400.

Based on my research here I don’t need the diff drop as my lift is under 2.5”, not sure about the needle bearing and haven’t heard anyone else doing sway bar drops. Are these guys trying to make a few extra quick bucks on my dime? They suggested these extras are needed if I intend to do some moderate off-roading.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I’ve got a diff drop and my cv angles look much better than my friends without the diff drop.

I’ve never seen a sway bar drop on this forum. If you do that please post pictures to educate us.

    Thanks

Don't do the diff drop, I have a 2.5" front lift and cv angles are still perfect. Ecg bushing yes replace that... maybe even look into uca(I have jbas). Yes they aren't "needed" for a 2.2". But they help get the caster to +4.0 when alignment time comes.

Check for the issue KDSS link hitting track bar. As shown in below video screen cap you might need after market track bar and KDSS spacers. Aftermarket track bars are bent to clear the bracket.

(First pic using Ironman brand track bar and kdss spacers and second pic using Sonoran brand)

    Edit -

Hi @BubbaJr23, So sorry, big mistake..!! Just noticed that you said you have ORP without KDSS. You have the trouble free ORP. Ignore this. All this trouble only for KDSS ORP, you have the better ORP and have no trouble lifting.

Check again with a Toyota specialized 4x4 shop as I don't remember all that complicated stuff with non KDSS. Just front coil overs + rear shocks and springs + diff drop. Optional adjustable UCA higher than 2.5in lift for better alignment specs. Optional bump stops if you are planning to hit hard / at speeds on offroad. For tire options I suggest you go with 285/70R17 as you only have to trim a tiny bit in front and for spare tire since you don't have KDSS ram in rear you have plenty space in the stock spare tire location to fit 285/70R17 tires.
