One of my H9/H11 conversion bulbs (Phillips made in Germany) went out, so I will most likely go back to stock bulbs and call it a day.
I heard about the short life span compared to the 55w OEM ones, this bulb didn't even last 1 year and a half.
It's a shame such a nice vehicle is being kept back by such shortcomings.

The stock bulbs are long life bulbs. You're trading light output for longevity.

Well, given I am driving a lot at night, and in remote areas, I dont want to be changing bulbs on the side of the road.
I swapped the OEM halogen fog lights for OEM LED ones, they are making a huge difference.

yep. Mathematically it comes to 31.606 inches

265 (the tread width in millmeters). 70 (the percentage of tread width of the sidewall height). 17 (the height of the rim in inches).

    70% of 265mm = 185.5mm. 185.5mm is exactly 7.30315 inches - this is sidewall height. 7.30315 X 2 (for the UPPER AND LOWER sidewalls) = 14.6063 inches + 17" rim height = 31.606 inches.

This number CAN vary a bit depending on tread depth, manufacturer, Rim width, Inflation pressure, etc... but RARELY will it vary more than .3-.4 inches. In fact it USUALLY varies down in value, since the lower sidewall typically has a slight outward "bulge" due to recommended pressures. This outward bulge removes true height. Most 265/70/17 tires are on the order of 31.25-31.5" tall.

to get a 33" tall tire in 70 series on 17" rims, you would need a minimum tread width of 290. A 295/70/17 tire would be 33.25" tall... a 285/70/17 tire would be 32.70" tall.

Every 18.143mm of treadwidth = 1" of over the rim size for 70 series tires.

Well, I didn't really take any build up pictures. Kinda came up with an idea(fj style), ordered 1 5/8"(o.d.), 3/16 wall, aluminum tubing, bent it with a pos bender that kinks a little, welded it with a spool gun(which was a pain and some welded are pretty. but not bad, just not to my standards since I'm a welder/fabricator by trade, but I rushed).. Anyway its strong as fuck so,, it'll do.

So change them out once a year :notsure:

They're $10/bulb and easy to install.

Mine have been going strong since 2018 but probably do less night driving than you.

Well I almost did something really stupid. I almost traded my 4R for a 2 door Rubicon today. Jeeps have become so stupidly expensive. Instead I went back to Discount Tire to have my AT3’s rebalanced for the 5th time. This time they offered road force. It seems to have done the trick.

    Hey Runners
Another set of tweaks… one many are bored with I know but to me it’s something I’ve liked since the first time I saw it and part of what drew me to the runner. The other, the wheels Im not as excited about but will keep it that way for awhile. Going all in on new wheels just isn’t something I’m ready to dedicate $ to —- yet

Already had the grille gutter guard on bottom and now have it on the top piece.

the grille valence was painted with SEM Trim black in satin and then clear coated with a 2K clear with a satin finish followed by a light wet polish.

Satin wrap the silver front and rear bumper covers comin Soon

    some pics attached of course.

That’s what I do. Halogens lose some light output over time before they burn out. So about every 1.5 years I put in a fresh set of low beams. I keep a set of modded H9s and 9011s in my gear box just in case one goes out while on a trip.

Why not just replace them with lasfit LED bulbs? They have more output and they should last a very long time

There are thousands of posts on the web, in here and in other forums about why LED drop-ins are scientifically not right. Plus they are not street legal.

Yes, that’s how they work. A pro as well as con.
Here’s some info on halogen bulb operation, courtesy of a Hella automotive lighting brochure. Page 7.

I swapped out my window vent thingies for the AVS stick-ons. The passenger side front one would not close right every time and I got tired of messing with it. I have always had the in-channel ones since like 1993 and never had an issue until now. Now that I have these, I think these AVS ones seem superior in every way except resistance to breakage from shock/bending. Might be a good test to run, but the other ones seem a little more flexible. One of the AVS ones arrived with a crack along one edge…never had a crack in any of the other ones. lol Anyway, I appreciate the reviews on here. It make the choice easier for sure. Pretty satisfied with this change so far. Have a nice weekend! :oldglory:

The wrap isn’t expensive given the size needed being somewhat minimal. I only use 3M/VIVID.
