I got this vehicle recently, the guy who had it said there was a power steering fluid leak but when I open the hood the cap says it takes dexron ATF, I'm wondering if i should drain the fluid that's in there in case he put steering fluid in. Also got some bar's leaks power steering repair, sources online say it's fine to use in an ATF vehicle but wanted to know if anyone with experience could weigh in before i go ahead.

Your power steering does take ATF Dex II but that is no longer made. I use Valvoline Maxlife which is a suitable substitute. If you are unsure what is in there then yes drain it and refill. Also know that these systems commonly leak. Mine leaks and I have been unable to find the cause so I check monthly and refill if necessary.
