Do you attach any type of tubing to the valve to direct the oil?

No. I believe some versions have a nipple so you can attach a tube. This one just drains straight down.

Yes. The skid doesn’t cover the drain plug

Question as I would like to add the drain as well. If my truck goes into Toyota for the odd oil change any hassle from them or potential warranty issues if something happened? They are reliable etc ?

I would only worry about a young dumb tech taking the fumoto off vs just using the valve. and then you'd have to get a new washer for the fumoto and never go to the dealer again.

on the limited we had prior, I added both the metal housing and valve, well worth it and I plan to do it to the new runner first oil change.

If you have steel skids, it can be a PITA to remove them plus having the nipple version will help with oil not splattering all over the place when you use a hose.

This ^^^.... thats why I won't take mine to Toyota. Yes, I get 2 free oil change but it's not worth the headache.

I had Fumoto before without issues but I went with Stahlbus this time on both cars.

Does the washer on the Fumoto ever need to be replaced?

I'm going to say it's about the same as the Fumoto. This is when the time when I do other stuff like greasing the zerks.

Not unless it starts leaking on you.

Was there a reason you chose Stahlbus?

I really just wanted to try something different. There's no valve handle to hit and you have a cap as a safety.

Fumoto valve yes ,but what does the metal oil filter housing do that the composite one doesn't or didn't do? Did it break?

The metal is stronger, less likely to break. Peace of mind.

Don't do that... One or the other, preferably the washer that Fumoto sent you. While I'm not sure of the engineering aspect of 2 washers, but it doesn't seem right. You're gonna like the Fumoto valve.

On my recent oil change, the shop I use did it for the first time with the RCI skid. They left a bit a mess with oil on top of the skid. I took off the skid later and cleaned it up.

Next oil change I plan to take off the skid, change the oil myself, and put on a Fumoto or Stahl valve and swap out the composite housing for metal. Then decide whether to reinstall the RCI skid or the oem ones.

Isn't there a gadget for draining the filter housing prior to removing it?

I want to do it at least once myself, just to know what all is involved.

I'd remove the skid and work on the valve, then reinstall.

The OEM filters include the rubber o-rings and a plastic nipple for draining the oil from the filter housing. You just shove it in and wait about 5 minutes for the oil to drain out.

The drain valve is much cleaner to drain the filter.

Yes there is. It's a kit called MotivX. It comes with a screw-in funnel, filter wrench, and oil drain valve with tube. I have on for my Tundra.
