If only Lexus made a version of the 4runner….that would be great.

oh yeah, they do! It’s the one that looks like total garbage. Lol

What I don't get is Toyota's choices in not offering Toyota Connect on anything but the Limited and Pro. It's a SUBSCRIPTION service, for crissakes, something they could collect money from on ALL their 4R customers. Why would they leave that on the table? When I bought my ORP, the dealer had us install the Toyota app on our phones, so we got excited that we would get the trial to see if the Remote Start and other smart phone things like Last Known Location were something worth paying extra for. But when I entered the VIN number when we got home, the app said "No Connected Services account associated with that vehicle." At first I thought it was an activation issue, but when I called the number that popped up, they said my vehicle was not even compatible with the service if I wanted it! WTF, Toyota? Felt like Toyota really screwed the pooch on this one. I thought Premium would include something like this on an OR "Premium". It's not like an upgraded stereo, or suspension. This is something they can collect money for month after month if people decide to subscribe after the trial runs out.

I don't know, a lifted GX460 with bumpers and chubby tires looks pretty freaking cool to me. But stock I would have to agree with you

I feel like a total old fart...I don't want any of the stuff this thread says is missing on my 4R. I just want it to outlast me...getting old, I guess.

I have to ask, those who dislike the adaptive cruise control . . . why?

For 10+ years I lamented to my wife that regular cruise control is worthless on east coast highways. They're constantly crowded and no one - and I mean no one - keeps a consistent speed. Additionally, if people pass you, they cut back in front of you with a half a car length to spare, slow down by about 10 mph, then slowly speed up again. This isn't a once a trip experience, but happens with almost every single driver that passes.

The 4Runner is the first vehicle I've had with adaptive cruise and I consider it a godsend because I can actually use cruise again!

I used to use Criuse Control a couple decades ago on my F-150 for long trips on the Interstate. But like you say, even Interstates have too many people pulling into the space cushion in front of you. I have probably used CC on our '99 4R a handful of times since we bought it in 2004. Our 2022 ORP has too few miles on it to start using CC, but am looking forward to trying out Adaptive CC.

I consider myself crossing into Old Fart territory (57). When I started looking for a 5th Gen 4R, I looked at no newer than 2019 so I wouldn't end up with all the new Toyota Safety Sense nanny features. But once I found out you can turn them all Off, and a new 2022 ORP was selling for no more than a Used 2019, I took the plunge. I can honestly say that in the week I've been driving the new 4R, the only thing I've noticed is Lane Departure warning when you veer on the the white lane marker line on the freeway if I don't have my turn signal on, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which I may knock down on click of sensitivity. But so far, nothing intrusive, and if it was, I'd turn it off and basically have a 2019, but only 200 miles on it, and all LED headlights. Just wish Toyota hadn't made Remote Start/Remote Connect exclusive to the Limited and Pro.

GX460 is not actually a 4Runner, they are more like cousins. It's based on the Landcruiser Prado, I think in Australia they call it the "baby Landcruiser".

This is my first vehicle with adaptive cruise control and I absolutely love it. If I'm going 77 on the highway and the guy in front of me is going 76, I don't have to be annoyed by it.

Yes, removing the entire front end does help.
