I think you should add the toyota front bug deflector. I think it would blend in nicely with the window deflectors

 

Yes, I thought about it, but I don't want to have to stick rubber bumpers on my hood.

I put the rubber bumpers on the underside of the deflector.

 

Replaced side mirror of the 2016 that Mama tried to tear off...LOL...At the shop tomorrow for about 3K of custom spray bedliner accents to cover six years of road & rock rash...Cheaper & more durable than more paint...

 

Hmm, had not thought of that...duh. can they be seen from the outside?
Also, some reviews on Amazon mentioned a very close tolerance on top of the painted radiator shroud. They were concerned about rubbing the paint. What has been your experience?

 

Installed SumoSprings bumps front and rear.

 

Just had a peak since you mentioned it. The screws that hold the deflector to the hood makes contact with the plastic shroud on mine. Doesn't look like the deflector itself touches the painted portion at all.

Also, the deflector is pretty damn stiff. I don't think using the rubber bumpers are necessary. But I don't notice them anyways.

 

Thank you! I have one on my 98 ltd and did not use the bumpers. They are stiff, but the one on my 98 has a lot more clearance than the 5th gen version appears to. Reviews did also mention what you said about the mounting screws.

I just took a second look just to make sure. It is super tight on the leading edge where it meets the top of the painted grill. Tight enough where it looked like it was scuffed, but turned out to be dried up road salt getting trapped in there. Going to have to keep an eye on it.

Anyways, I'm happy with mine still. Does not shake or vibrate at all on the highway or going thru the touch less carwash blow dryer.

 

Good info!! Thnk you again. I've got it in my cart...just have to think on it a little more. After all, it would really be mostly for asthetics. I know it would protect the front of the hood from road debris, but the whole front end is paint.

 

I was hesitant at first, but glad I put it on. Makes the front look a little more aggressive as well.

Put my new Victory 4x4 Rock sliders on. Things are awesome and serve double duty.

 

Well well, look who’s got money… I saw that OEM transfer case liquid gold…even pushed back into the rest of the stuff as a little humble brag. Lol. Haha.

 

Got my front suspension on this weekend. Pretty stoked to have these 8112’s and Camburg upper control arms on. Already a big difference compared to my stock control arms and struts with ready lift spacers.

 

I also picked up a wittle wadded this weekend for $200. It’s a BajaRack ladder. Pretty impressed how sturdy it is! Now I have a place for my Trasharoo! Lol

 

I would recommend if you plan on using that ladder to invest in pain protection film behind the first couple steps. I use mine quite often and it can start to scratch the paint. Also if you have kids and a roof rack they will help themselves to the top of your car.

I installed the Weathertec version. I like that it is flat. Thinking of wrapping the entire hood at which time I will remove it.

 

Today finally go my CB in, Rago center console mole panels, 4’ firestick, and the rear Rago antenna mount. Really fun day working on this with my brother and dad while they worked on their Jeeps.
