There is this thread where the OP had a mishap with a LED bulb he bought from Amazon, installed and nearly had a fire in the cabin. I did some reading and in his case, more than likely (aside from the possibility it was a defective cheap chinese bulb) is that he bought incompatible LED's.

    Here is his packaging:

You can see in the header the word CANBUS (or CAN Bus). This is a common computer type that runs every sensor imaginable in most vehicles, but not lighting in 4Runners of any year. It is a complicated system and having had several Wranglers with this, I can tell you it is UBER convenient to geek out reading all of the available data with aftermarket display units and a giant pain in the ass to work with when there are issues - data deciphering. The primary issue it solves with regular LED's is due to its increased resistance, it prevents "hyper flashing" in the CAN Bus system and specifies which bulb is out in your computer when you get an "idiot light" on the dash.

Most importantly, and I'd bet is the OP's issue here is this:

My advice, especially in this forum is to make sure you are buying the CORRECT TYPE LED for your application. IN our collective case on this site, that would be most Toyotas. It looks like Toyota, Subaru and Mazda dipped their toes into the CAN Bus water but not for all vehicles. If it says CAN Bus or CAN BUS or CANBUS, look elsewhere.

I'm running all Yorkim on my 4R - door puddle lights, vanity mirrors, map lights, dome, outside mirror puddle lights, hatch and Lasifit in my rears. No issues in almost 2 years. These are what they call "cabus friendly".
Note for the ones willing to jump ship: get the 28mm dome light, not the 31mm. Same bulb number 2385 I belive.
Same bulbs in my 2020 Mustang seem ok, one burned in the map light socket. I believe it was a bad bulb, not a canbus issue.
They are also ok in our 2014 Corolla trunk.

Definitely a huge improvement over OEM.

I installed Lasfit in the entire interior and license plate lights. Easy, perfect fit. Once you go LED (especially head and fog, you'll never go back.

RCI aluminum skids (front, trans, TC, and gas), RCI steel sliders 20 degree no plates with kickout, Treaty Oak recovery points, LFD stainless crossbars, Greenlane ladder, Toyo Open Country AT III, Bilstein 5100s, OME (front 2” lift) and Eibach (rear 1”lift) coils
Lasfit is the way to go! Might be ones that are brighter or maybe cheaper, but these just work with no issues at all!
