Considering KDSS - This video is exceptional

Fellow 4R guys,

This YouTube video was posted this week. A very good video on the merits and drawbacks of KDSS, depending on what you intend to do with your 4R.

After watching this video, the choice for opting to get KDSS was the right choice for me based on my intended travels with my 4R.

Watch the video. It shows that KDSS has better front articulation.

It does a good job of showing the actual differences.

 

KDSS has better front articulation - Yes. But after one level front sway bar act negatively.
rear articulation is better than the front, not better than KDSS - No, KDSS has less articulation than non KDSS 4Runner.

 

This was one of the best, most informative videos I've seen so far. It shows the real advantages of KDSS, and the drawbacks. It also disproves some of the percieved drawbacks.

 

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. The video shows that overall articulation is best with KDSS.

But, it shows how and why travel is limited. Depending on your use and preference, KDSS can be good or bad.

I think it's better for low speed stuff, while regular sway bars are better for high speed use. No sway bars is best overall, but might suck for highway driving.

 

I meant to say video show that front articulation is good with KDSS and rear articulation was good in non KDSS. Just as I noticed on my video where KDSS has about 1in less articulation in rear.

Video also show after one point front articulation start to reduce when opposite tire pushes further up. (The flexed side comes back up).

 

I was thinking the same but video show that when one side is on an angle it leans more towards the opposite side increasing rollover risk. this is an eye opener especially I will remember driving my buddy's Jeep I will only disconnect sway bar on places with diagonal articulation is needed.

 

I saw that too. With extended or long travel, I believe.

I think the next generation KDSS will be better in every way. They're getting rid of hydraulics, and it should function more like a true disconnect.

I think the next PRO will have it.

After having one I don't have much good about Pro brother. Seem like it is only there to make more money for Toyota vs what its worth. (Again no hate for Pro, just my opinion). I would go with bone stock TRD Offroad or what ever they decide to call and I do hope Toyota would consider sway bar disconnect in the middle. In the Jeep it flex like mad as both sides can move up and down.

On a side note Toyota seem to go behind tech and mpg over tougher 4x4 world. (Toyota lovers pls don't hate me.)

Regarding the topic of "Disappointed" I really appreciate and respect you sir @Thatbassguy where we can peacefully share our ideas without taking personally. Really enjoy discussing on topics and no intend of who is winning. 100% sharing ideas.

 

I'm very interested to see which way they go with the 6th gen. Hopefully they keep it rugged and can make it more fuel efficient.

And, same to you! I know I argue/debate things as much as anyone here. I appreciate being able to disagree and not fight. I think we'd get along fine on a trail run, or at a mall crawler meet.
