Is this worthy of a calendar shot?

Keystone Colorado at 9,280 ft. Just before a blizzard hit us.

 

I mean, it's an okay picture, I guess.

 

In my opinion it's too dark for a calendar. The same shot at sunrise or sunset would be a winner, for sure. - Ted

 

I agree it is dark, however the sun is trying its best to break through those sub freezing clouds. It's very beautiful to see Mother Nature in action and reminds me that sometimes in life you will encounter clouds along the way. It was a very beautiful day.

 

What do you know? You screw up a perfectly good sunset with half a motorcycle. Lol. Just saying.

 

Palerider: Don't mean to be downer, but I spent many years as a semi-amateur, doing weddings, and other crap, and entering scenic pix in shows. Sold hundred of photos over the years and even won many prizes in shows, even a first prize once. Never made enough to pay for all the damned cameras, lenses and developing equipment, but I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot. You do need some brightness in the photos, even if it is a weak sun trying to peek through. Keep trying. You had a great shot but it needed more light. - Happy New year. - Ted

 

I understand completely and no offense taken. This photo was taken from an I-phone, no fancy camera for me. Part of the simplicity is that it wasn't taken by professional equipment and by a novice. I really like the background more than the vehicle. Living at seal level and the voyage it took to get to this elevation was priceless. This illustrates to me the beauty and Artwork provided by God Himself.

Where are you located at sea level? We're at about 50' el here, just about the start of the west coast mountain ranges in B.C., Canada. Can't wait to tackle some more of the off-roads in the mountains this summer. - Happy New Year, Ted

 

We are in Houston. 75 miles inland and about 75 ft above sea level. If we get a rogue wave we could be in Dallas in a few hours Lol.

Most pictures, in my opinion, need a backstory. Your picture is meh, but that's a cool backstory so it makes the image more interesting.

 

Mark - You're 75' above sea level;, that's almost in mountain country compared to our 50' elevation. Fortunately, we don't have very far to drive to get to 200'-300' el in an emergency.
We always keep the truck fully gassed and some warm clothes handy. Just kidding! - Ted

 

You can do some editing on this pic to make it better. I agree that it is a little dark as is.
