    Hi All

I am trying to find a way to mount a roof rack rail over the front doors to give me more space between the roof rack bars. I have an OEM rack that is only over the back part of the vehicle. Using it for a sea kayak would place most of the boat over the back part of the Runner and dangling pretty far out the back. If there is a way to mount my rectangular thule cross bars to mounts that secure temporary inside the door, this would give me the spread I am looking for. However, I can't find any door mount feet for the main roof rack manufacturers. I am not looking to drill into the roof to install permanent mounts. Anyone have any ideas?

What's the length of your boat? For reference, my hang glider is approx 18 feet long. I'm using a Yakima DryDock rack mounted to a front receiver hitch. The rack is a 3/4 LFD.

This thread on our sister site shows a guy who used 3rd gen 4Runner (Yakima Q62 Towers) on his 5th with some success. While it doesn't seem like Yakima or others offers a clamp on solution, there may be a tower like this that would work!
