NO build thread. I have a few pictures but mostly being creative. That said, it can be quite frustrating sometimes too. But in the long run much worth it.

This material is aluminum extrusion, while more expensive than wood it's significantly stronger, allows you to do things you would NOT be able to do with wood, and while a bit heavier than wood somewhat about the same weight of equal wood support. The latter meaning, if you need a 2x4" wood structure strength, likely 1x1" aluminum extrusion is more than enough, and possibly overkill, and those two are about the same weight. Additionally, a bonus 1x1" takes up less area than the 2x4". Also, while you could change the wood it's limited as to how may times you can puncture the wood, whether nail, screw, bolt, etc. That's NOT an issue with the aluminum extrusion. While like wood, you could NOT make it longer once cut you can reposition the anchor points almost indefinitely without weakening the aluminum extrusion because of puncture. 80/20 (https://8020.net/product-basics) likely the most common provider and available on Amazon, however, shipping could take 6-8weeks. Tnutz (https://www.tnutz.com), while limited stock, is a less expensive dealer and shipping is significantly quicker. That said, on some pieces it's the opposite, Tnutz is crazy expensive because of the shipping and I opted to wait the 6-8 weeks shipping from Amazon. It's also available at Grainer? (spelling), while less expensive than Tnutz shipping it's more expensive than Amazon if you need it sooner than 6-8weeks. I used mostly 1x1" and a few pieces 3x1" bought on Amazon and get the less expensive hardware to put it all together from Tnutz.

It's bolted into the vehicle's anchor points, sometimes you have to be a bit creative as to which anchor points will capture the structure but it's NOT going anywhere. Hope that helps.

How are you liking those ridge grapplers? Any issues with clearance or trimming?
    Looks great!

Emptied and cleaned the port-a-potty (that's been sloshing in the back for 2 weeks now without smell). Forgot it was used on the last trip.

NOT sure if it'll hold up but added bungee cord to store the cast iron skillet. And added LED lights to the lower section because when the full bed is deployed it's hard to see the Foodi panel, even during the day.

Thanks. Trying to replicate a more nimble and stealth version of a 4x4 van we traveled in, with many of the same amenities but more offroad capability. The van had every creature comfort, including satellite DirecTV, here at top of Engineer Pass, CO watching POTUS44's State of the Union Address (2011), and while very offroad capable and got us to lots of places it did NOT get us to every place the 4Runner can.

Thanks. It's a charcuterie board from Amazon (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HD3TTZS?ie=UTF8) that I trimmed the handle width and depth on to snuggly fit under the hitch pin. I was surprised it worked. It easily supports our meals and drinks, NOT sure it supports more than 10-15 lbs. Make sure the engine isn't running as the exhaust is near.

added the top shelf Molle rack from victory 4x4 to my rear molle set up. Mostly plan to use it to store dog stuff (blankets, leashes, bowls etc) and get stuff off the back floor so the dogs can lounge out. As you can see, the height is perfect for your furry friends having plenty of headroom. Pictured is my 62 lb silver lab. Her slightly taller brother also fits nicely.

There is no such thing as a Silver Lab? She's a beauty!

Kimo just hit the 64# mark at 8mo. My previous lab (also a chocolate) was 110 at his heaviest. I think Kimo might hold steady around 95 tho the best are the hundo mark.

When you swapped valances, did you have to drill the front plate bracket in yourself? Haven't seen much coverage on this.

Took the sliders off to refresh em with some rattle can spray. Gotta say it looks better without them 374C8F89-D900-48D8-8D60-6196B36AB091.jpg0551AA3B-81BB-4921-9E9B-CE7BA6308C95.jpg

I know what you mean. A 4runner with clean, high rocker panels looks right. I got plain tube angled sliders because I think it helps give/keep that high impression (at standing height, like when you walk up to tge 4runner ).

That said, even 0 angle sliders dont detract from the look if you are looking at it seated in another car.

Window tint was the first thing that needed to be done. Went 15% on the front, 35% laid over the rear, 15% over the hatch, and 50% ceramic on the windshield. Amazing how much cooler the interior is and much easier on the eyes. Not to mention looks much better. EA52BC4D-0AE1-45D3-8F61-F1FD717AC01F.jpg

well thank you, and yes Silver labs are real, though rare, they are becoming a bit more common as people are actively wanting them, so breeders are trying to find matches where both mates have the color dilution in their gene pool. For example, before I rescued Lizzy, she had two litters with Males who did not have any Silver in their lineage and she only produces Chocolate or Black labs. I'm honestly glad she's only in the mid 60's, I'm not sure I'd want a 100 lb lab haha

I agree. Kind of tempted to sell mine, although my kids use them as steps to climb in. I haven't scraped them on anything, heck, I haven't hit dirt in many months, and the dirt I do hit, don't require sliders. I might as well remove and sell!

Last month I saw a Red Lab, apparently there are only two breeders in the US. Beautiful dog - not quite as red as an Irish Setter, but 100% lab. I have had two Chocolate Labs and they both were fantastic dogs.

I have the Predator Steps on mine (10 months now) and am definitely removing them soon. I have never used them one time to get in or out of the vehicle. I have stepped on them only to wash the roof. Intrigued with a very streamlined rock slider, but I don't really need them as I don't envision myself ever rock crawling. I like the clean streamlined look without them. Plus the $1,000 or more cost and the added weight. Good to hear others honestly question the need for them!

I feel the same way about the Pro Roof Rack.

The AKC still does not recognize Silver was where I was headed. There are breeders breeding for Silver but I'm not sure what they're doing. ie; in-breeding is not the way. Sounds like a good CRISPR problem :)

I've seen a few silver's. Honestly, they are great pups. Tho Kimo was bred from AKC stock and has papers, don't really care.

:eek:Whoa man, lets take a step back from this dangerous talk! ;).

Seriously, I might kinda like the high look without sliders, but sliders are still bad ass. It’s freakin armor! Consider it a passport to fun. If you like to explore off road, you have one less thing holding you back from a trail you want to go down. If the high side look is what is the primary concern, there are sliders out there that are discrete.

Even though i got my caliraised sliders because they were more discrete, I still kinda wish sometimes that I got flat 0 angle sliders because they stick out a bit more and offer even more protection from feral trees and rocks running around the forest. Also my 4runner is borderline tall for getting in and out of, so it would help as a bigger step (even though I can use my angled ones already as a step with a little care). But I’ll make due. :D

Riley was my first chocolate. I lost him to cancer last year. Kimo is my second. And before that, I had a black that got as a factory return from a breeder I knew. An older couple was not able to keep up with him and he was pretty heavy--Magnum sealed the deal--he was a good boy (as are they all). All three are or will be in that 100 pound club.

Fox Red is not that uncommon. One of the guys at the pet store has a Fox Red from Elkens. Also Moonlight Labradors in Santa Rosa. These two are breeders of Fox Reds I am familiar with as they're near me and aside from Sawyer (the Fox Red), one of my friends also has a female from Elkens--she's a sweetheart. Kimo is from Dustin Retrievers about 3 hours north of me.

Labradors, allegedly, are the #1 most loyal dogs. They've also been at the top of the AKC list of favorites since 1991. They require an enormous amount of exercise. We play several times a day. They also have a habit of putting everything in their mouths. For example, I'll fold the third class crap mail and let him carry it to the trash--he has come inside secreting rocks under his tongue. Sometimes, I let him "pay" at the drive thru--not often cause sometimes, he's a little tight with the cash :)
