    Hey 4runner fam

Had a scary issue this morning during my commute to work where I was in 'stop and go' traffic. There was some heavier-than-usual traffic at work, and I must have been stuck in a line for about 15 minutes before I started seeing symptoms. All of the sudden, she started to lose idle speed and stall out. I put the car in park, (people behind me honking, of course) and started it up again, move about 15-20ft along, and then stop, and stall out. I observed that the idle RPM in 'drive' and 'neutral' was trying to stabilize at 500RPM, but the car just kept shudderin, dropping below 500 and stalling out. I ended up doing this for the last 1/2 mile of my commute. Shortly after this happened, a new check engine light popped up.

I accelerated the first chance I got, and pulled into the parking lot. I idled in the parking lot while changing the shifter around from P, N, D, 2, just to see if I could recreate the stalling, but she ran fine and idled at/above 500RPM. I was parked here with the car on for about 20 minutes with no issues

I did a quick prayer, got back on the road and continued my commute to the office, which was about 5 minutes away. When I got here, I checked the diagnostic box and recorded the following error codes:
25- mixture control continuously lean (pre-existing code)
26- mixture control continuously rich (pre-existing code)
41- Throttle position (TP) sensor -circuit (new code)
52- knock sensor (KS) - circuit (pre-existing code)

For codes 25 and 26, I concurrently had a valve fuel leak under the engine that was recently repaired.

For code 41, it seems as though maybe I damaged the clutch this morning when erratically shifting around the gears during traffic?

For code 52, my mechanic didnt worry too much about it.

I'm planning to jump in the car and drive home. I don't expect any stop and go, which is what I think instigated my stalling. Anyway, I'm hoping that someone has experienced a similar set of circumstances who can lead me towards a solution? I can go to the auto shop tonight and pick up a part to replace if you guys think the solution can be simple. I am most-grateful.

Not real sure what is going on but 500 rpm's is a very low idle and could easily cause a stall. It did for me one time many years ago. Should be about 850. Idle screw is real easy to adjust. Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in soon. Good luck.

Mine did same . Turns out, it had set up a couple years. Rust had invaded the fuel tank, ( I just felt it was somehow fuel pump related ) but, man what a headache. New fuel cell, pump, inline filter, flushed the lines best I could and nary another fuel problem.
Code 52 ( knock sensor ) is only issue now. On my 95 3.0 it is directly IN the middle of the engine it seems. The harness has degraded from the intense heat over time. Ive halfway rigged another piece of wire to the only inch protruding from the head to its plug-in and it occasionally shows up not all time. Does anyone have any clue , suggestions, as to this sensor ?
