In preparation of 295/70 or 285/75 or maybe even 305 if the shop will let me try it out, I had to cut more of the side skirt, fully revealing the body mount, cut more of the front bumper and adjust the auto running boards back an inch. Now the only thing protruding is the body mount. Now only rubs on passenger on full lock in reverse. Clears every where else. Will be doing a BMC next week, then wait for SCS’s next launch of gen5 in 17x9 -38.

Got my wheels and tires installed. These Nitto Ridge Grapplers looks super aggressive and are really quiet also.

There have been plenty of detailed write-ups about bumper installs so I'll try to keep this short.

I thought long and hard about which front bumper and winch to install on my 2018. I leaned heavily toward LFD Off-Road since they are about 3hrs away. I ended up ordering a Warn bumper and Warn 12,000lb winch to go with it instead. These are my thoughts and tips as I finish this mod.

If you're going to do a bumper install, I highly recommend getting a crossbeam attachment for your floor jack, especially if you are doing by yourself.
beam.jpg Plan ahead and order the two types of push-pin connectors that populate the vehicle. There are thirteen, IIRC, that lock down the radiator cover and between engine compartment.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TKB45PP?ie=UTF8

Metal course thread screws and clips are for fenders and plastic dirt barrier.

Take plenty of pictures of the "air vanes" on the left and right front of the radiator. I'm not sure what they are called, but they are a PIA and installation instructions call for them to be cut but not specific as to where.
    vanes.jpg

Getting everything off was day one as I usually take my time, listening to talk radio, enjoying the day. However, that night disaster struck. I woke up with chills and a fever. Covid in a bad way! I had slight Covid at the start of the pandemic, mostly coughing. This was something different. It's still been two weeks to get this puppy installed and I don't have the winch wired yet.. Very stressful when you don't have the strength to do much. The weather has not helped either.
    front.jpg
Yesterday I finished the bumper install finally.

If I had to do it again, I would have went a different way I think. The Warn is mass produced and bolt holes etc. did not always line up. Provided bolts and nuts were sourced by drunk monkeys I'm fairly certain. Install instructions need re-write and professional photographer/graphic artist. I also would have chosen a full bumper instead of a center specific one.

All together not too bad though. I would like to add additional lights at some point, change out the LED fog lights and mains as well. Note: Disconnect the fogs before you do anything as the wires are very short with specific connectors. I accidently dropped the front and every wire broke. I ended up re-wiring them which was a huge PIA.

looks good! i have the same setup minus the tube (because of TSS). Really wish I had the tube though. As careful as you are though, it always seems something will break lol.

The bolts not lining up isn’t a mass produced thing. For some reason it seems to happen with bumpers, armor, sliders, roofbars, etc. In my experience and others, it seems the manufacturers blame “variance” on toyota’s end.

Nice write up but I don't see why the plastic bumper needs to come off. Just extra work and more chance of breaking stuff. If I got one of these type bumpers I would install like the CBI guy did:

Stock height and stock tire size. I currently have 450 miles on the truck only. Maybe in the near future I’ll do a leveling kit.

I would go into some serious debt for that guys garage set-up! Plus heat in winter! (winter to me is anything under 60degF) Going to agree that if I ever do something like this again I will do it the way this guy did. The front clip is not hard but it is a major PIA and I secretly hate Toyota for designing it as one piece. This was my first one but I have some knowledge now, thanks for the video!
Man, he makes it look easy!

Put a deposit on mine today! AG ORP.

Gonna miss my 3rd Gen Tacoma but ready for something different and a little extra interior space for my boys is needed.

I was planning on black wheels on the AG but will probably throw my Bronze Summits on at first to see how I like it.

I'm guessing front full bumper, he already has some sort of roof rack in the picture.

The waiting to know is killing me and it’s only been a minute. The roof rack that is on in the pic might have “take-off” written all over it.

Big flat looking box for a front bumber, i dont know…

@K-Paul , why you gotta be all mysterious? I dont have time to dig into all your recent posts for clues! Cmon man!

edit: he has a roof rack on because he needs it to take the new roof rack to the 4x4 shop for installation!

Did my first Oil Change today (5732 miles).
Also changed the filter housing to a new aluminum one - retaining the pickup pipe with the original.

Had one issue... one of the bolts holding the drain plug access plate on was almost impossible to remove. It was either so tight I couldn't easily turn it, or it was glued/painted to the larger thin plate. I mangled the head of it getting it off.

Does Anyone know the part number for a replacement bolt? The other one came off normally, but this one was special. (I'm using "special" in a sarcastic way, so I don't go into another tirade against the neanderthal who tightened it at the factory).

It's not so bad I couldn't get it back on, but I would rather put a new one there if I can find it.

LOL..... the Arb box is for an ARB Deluxe front bumper. The roof rack in the picture is my Prinsu rack minus the wind deflector.:anonymous:

I got a new light bar waiting to install it and once done I will get the wind deflector back on.

My disappointment at not being able to see roof rack pics, thankfully can only be made better by seeing pictures of ARB Deluxe bumpers. I wait patiently.

Are you planning on a winch?

Absolutely, I do want to add a winch, just figured as I have had a chronic back injury I'll let the shop get the bumper on. Later when I can get back up to KC it should be easier to dismount it and then install/clock a winch with friends that are more experienced. Ive been trying to revive a thread to get thoughts but still undecided on a model.

Thanks... looks like it might take a month to find a specific bolt on that. Just went through a few pages and I see nothing that resembles the "Oil Drain Access Plate" listed... the plate OR the bolts. But I'm sure it's there somewhere. I'll just keep digging.
