Update: Hidden Falls - Feb 25th

There's more than a few of us from Houston / Dallas area, and I figured we could have some voting to see what people would be interested in.

    Parks Around this area:
    ------------------

Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area - Gilmer, TX
    https://www.google.com/maps/place/B...eed6b59c13b0286!8m2!3d32.797594!4d-94.8740333

Hidden Falls Adventure Park - Marble Falls, TX - Selected
    https://www.google.com/maps/place/H...fc143fa67ee501!8m2!3d30.5898705!4d-98.1650304

Northwest OHV Park - Bridgeport, TX
    https://www.google.com/maps/place/N...595a6c1a4f9127!8m2!3d33.2385509!4d-97.7895743

    --------------------

I have personally been to Hidden Falls and to Northwest OHV. I will be going to Barnwell in January with some friends from TacomaWorld.

All 3 have stuff designed for stock trucks all the way to Extreme rigs. 2WD vehicles could easily stay on park roads, and if you're 2WD Locked, maybe the easiest of trails. At the very least, you would just join us and ride with someone to meet up.

All sites offer camping at the site, but there are state parks nearby. We could launch from a state park and spend the day there, then return to camping at a park. I say this because at the 2 I've been to, the campgrounds were non-powered dirt parking lot kind of situations, and I'd rather just camp a state park nearby. At least Hidden Falls has hookups for 30 amp and 50 amp trailers, the other's might too.

    What's needed:
Decide on location - Hidden Falls
Decide on date - Feb 25th
Objective - Meet up around 10:00 AM near the front area with the pavillion and air tanks.
Decide on backup plan (if it rains out) - Depending on weather, will still ride, just easier trails.
Decide where to camp (for those of us roughing it) - Our group will likely stay at Ink's Lake State Park from Feb 24th - 26th.

    What's recommended:
FRS Radio (walkie-talkies) or CBs for communication
    Recovery gear
Food / Water / First Aid supplies

Let's see who's interested. Let's shoot for a tentative date of end of January or start of February. If that doesn't work, we'll revise, but this might give people time to get off work, make plans, etc.

@fajitas21 Thanks for putting all of that together! I am definitely down to get this going and would be more than happy to help out any way that I can.

@Bob @samsung @ramonortiz55 I ended up hitting Hidden Falls Adventure Park a couple weeks ago and wanted to give everyone the inside scoop (@fajitas21 knows).... its epic! It has a little of everything for everyone. I would kind of compare it to a ski mountain in that there are main trails everyone can cruise on that outline the park (I.e.- 'Cat tracks or green runs'), a little bit more technical trails (I.e.- 'Blue or Black runs'), and then you have super crazy / insane climbers (I.e.- 'Double black diamonds'). I haven't camped there yet, but when driving through the sites looked immaculate with everything you could want - electrical/water hook ups, bathrooms w/ showers, etc.
I attached some pics from my excursion out there to check out.IMG_2860.jpg IMG_2796.jpg IMG_2775.jpg

I'm not joking, the bathrooms in Hidden Falls had granite countertops. My wife seriously WTFed at that and we had a good laugh. That's a ritzy park!

Looking good so far. Thanks for the input guys.

My only weekend I can go in Jan would be the last weekend - Saturday, Jan 28th.

I'm pretty much free most any time in February.

BTW I'll let this thread hang until probably after Christmas. This will give people time to vote or even see it. I have a friend in RL I'll ask too. After the first of the year we'll see how the votes look and set something down so we can start planning more seriously.

There's a possibility, but no promises as of now. Control arms are expensive.

Xcountry is a aftermarket custom package/lift the dealer had done pre-sale.
The weekend starting January 20 there will be a mix of various Toyota and Overland groups at Hidden Falls camping in Area 51. I'm a n00b and plan on going. Come for one or both nights or just as a day run.

It's usually around $25 a day. If you camp there, they charge for the before and after day, so if you just plan on going for the day, it's cheaper. I think if you arrive after 2:00 PM or 4:00 PM at Hidden Falls, it's cheaper admission.

I can't make that date, but keep posting info like that please!

Also, the votes look like it's Hidden Falls and February, so let's pick a date in February guys.

Remember Valentines Day is Feb 14th (Tuesday). Make sure this doesn't interfere with your plans.

I'm gonna toss out the 18th or the 25th. Camping before or after is optional, but the day of the "Run" will be on Saturday, weather permitting.

Let's hear what you got to say.

Well the truck is almost in one piece so I'm ahead of schedule! I'll be in Tyler Feb 6-11 if that works, if not I can do either the 18th or the 25th as long as it's locked in by the 1st.

In the interest of moving this along I'll say let's shoot for Feb 25th. This gives us a month to plan ahead.

@MasterSyneca Looks good. We'll be stock, so you'll be able to do more than us, but there's lots to do for both stock and more than stock.
