After over 200 phone calls searching for a Pro, I had finally secured a deal in the color I wanted. Waited eagerly and impatiently to get the phone call it had arrived.

Yesterday, I start my morning meeting at work and the phone rings, it’s the dealership. I answer the phone expecting to get some great news my truck had made it. Come to find out, it had fallen off of the transport trailer and had been totaled. My sales guy was very apologetic and was able to get another allocated with a 2-3 month lead time plus a discount. After working so hard to find one and not having to wait, I instantly hopped online trying to scavenge for another one.

At 3pm yesterday, I found one 3.5 hours away and we had worked a deal that I wasn’t happy with, but it was a deal. I hopped in my car and headed that way. 20 minutes after leaving, the owner of my original dealership calls and tells me they have a white ORP they’ll give me for MSRP and add free window tint, blah, blah and a 7 year bumper to bumper warranty.

i nicely declined and continued on my drive. 5 minutes later they sent a pic of the ORP and it had almost everything a pro comes with on it. I called back and asked what they can do for me because of the situation and they offered everything as stated above, gave me 7k over what I paid for my vehicle on trade, ordered a TRD skid plate to be shipped directly to my house, blacked out the windows in the truck, and threw some other goodies in here and there.

Luckily, the other dealership wasn’t too far off from my original so I rerouted and headed that way to see what was up.

Well, I decided to grab the ORP. I haven’t had much time to check her out as I didn’t get home until 1AM, but damn the drive back was so rewarding.

Being 23 years old and making $7,000 profit off of a vehicle I owned for 6 months and put 9,000 miles on was a no brainer for me.

    i went from owning a $63k MSRP vehicle with a $25k loan to owning a ~$50k MSRP vehicle with a $8,243.23 loan.

For those wondering, I traded the Tesla in because we’re moving into a new house that we’ll be renting and to install a home charger, I was quoted ~$2k. The money I’ll spend in gas makes way more sense than paying for an install, buying a wall connector, and then paying the electricity to charge it over the next year just to have zero value in anything but the wall connector itself once we move again.

Not sure if this is the kind of stuff you guys enjoy reading, but I don’t have a dad to call and boast about my achievement to.

I can’t wait to start using this thing for what it’s built for and to learn the ins and outs of working on a Toyota. (Can’t be nearly as bad as any German cars I’ve dealt with in the past)

If you made it this far, thanks for taking the time to read my write up!

Here’s the only pic I have so far. I’ll grab some more when I get a minute!

Also, I need some guys to hit trails with near Austin. Just moved out here last year and haven’t had the chance to meet a ton of people that have 4Rs and don’t just drive around the city.

Definitely taking some adjustment to how it drives. I already love the truck feel to it.

    Nice, congrats.

I would have held out for the TRD pro suspension with install and alinement at no cost added.

White is my favorite shade for a 4runner, I always see a storm trooper helmet on the front end LOL.

Congrats! You did well. You ditched a substantial amount of debt in the process. Pay off that 8k note ASAP and you will be driving for a very long time payment free.
