Just use your factory front tie down points. Shit won’t break, and if it does, no upgraded recovery points were gonna get you out.

Exactly. Just pull straight and avoid side loading them.

It’s funny, I call the tie down points, but I was looking at the owners manual and saw that they refer to them there as front tow points. That surprised me. Although they said that they are for towing for a short tine on flat paved surfaces.

The problem with these (apparently) tow points is that they are always going to be side-loaded in normal use. So the restrictions to use them on flat, paved surfaces for a short distance makes sense.

RCI aluminum skids (front, trans, TC, and gas), RCI steel sliders 20 degree no plates with kickout, Treaty Oak recovery points, LFD stainless crossbars, Greenlane ladder, Toyo Open Country AT III, Bilstein 5100s, OME (front 2” lift) and Eibach (rear 1”lift) coils
I have the recovery points made my Treaty Oak installed. They are simple to put on and are rock solid bolted into the frame. These are about $150. Very highly recommended

Treaty Oak works with KDSS without having to drill any other holes or take off the front bumper like the Aprx?

I have KDSS, no drilling and no bumper removal for installation. Just two very large screws that go into pretapped holes in the frame.

Wonder why they say soft shackles shouldn't be used with these ...

The edges of the inside of the loop are 90 degrees, not rounded like a D ring

I’ve done mechanical rigging for special effects and stunts for 25 years. I’ve seen hardware subjected to all kinds of high inertia abuse. I’ve never seen a properly rated steel shackle fail. I’ve seen them deform, but never fail.

Has anyone here actually seen a rated screw pin anchor shackle fail?

I’m not saying soft shackles don’t have their place. What I’m saying is that the decision to buy Treaty Oak recovery points shouldn’t be driven by whether or not they’ll take soft shackles.

Thanks! I know it won’t completely deter someone who is determined to take them, but if it thwarts the opportunist thief then I’ll be happy.

There are some that have a type of lock and key to make them harder to steal:

I keep mine in the vehicle until I need it. No sense in leaving it on and exposed to the weather and thieves.

I like it because it will keep them from unscrewing. I check mine frequently for tightness.
