Does anyone know how to adjust or remove the cross bars on the OEM TRD Pro roof rack?

I tried to hand twist the knobs to unlock it but it's on their pretty tight. Not sure if I need to use a wrench/pliers to unscrew the mounts holding down the cross bars.

They have probably been on a long ass time, since the install from the factory and MAY have Loctite on them threads. Buy soem PB Blaster and spray each knob. Let sit for 24 hours and then give it a go. Also, nothing wrong with using channel locks or something similar to help remove them. Not too tight so it doesnt mar or crush the plastic knobs.

A pipe wrench with a rag works wonders.

    None yet!
Pipe wrench and rag worked quickly for me without the need of any lubricants. Once you get them loose, it's pretty intuitive on how to remove or shift them into a position. That said, I'm ripping this useless rack off and replacing with an Uptop or Prinsu.

Find a small rubber strap wrench.

    Kyx nerfbars, TRD roof rack.
Can the bars be spaced out the length of the roof to throw more luggage up there? Planning a summer trip where the room will come in handy. I haven't thrown anything up there yet.

I believe I've read where Pro owners have moved those cross bars to the top rail. That would give you more forward support, albeit higher up.
