I have a 2020 4Runner SR5. I’m just about to hit 20k miles and my brakes are squealing. It typically happens right when I start up and am pulling out of the drive way. When I’m all warmed up, no squealing. I’ve taken it to the dealership 3 times and each time they tell me, “yup, that’s what the new ones do!” I have a hard time believing my new car just squeals. Am I crazy or should I just go somewhere else for maintenance???

Squeaking doesn't mean they're bad. You can try switching pad compound but usually they dust more or you can scuff up the rotor but it will go back to making noise.

My 18 does this too and has for the 4 years I’ve owned it. Cold and moisture are normally the factors causing it.
As long as they are working as they should and you don’t have abnormal wear then you should be good.

Try the search function next time, plenty of owners experience this.

The brakes need to be properly bedded in to work right, this may help. Welcome to the forum. Look at the box to the right side of this page, bedding the brakes.

We don't have this problem with our 4Runner, but my Tundra does the same thing. I've had it looked at 4 times and have demanded new pads and rotors.... obviously, denied. I'm not sure what else to do at this point. It's seriously ridiculous and embarrassing as everyone on my street looks over as they squeal.

I might also add that I have two other tundras on my street, same year and approx miles as mine and they don't have any squealing problem, so I call BS on the "that's how new brakes work".
