Today a pushed the "mode" button to check gas mileage and now I cannot change fane setting, temp setting or change from fan in face to defrost or any othe setting.
When I push the "mode" button again there is zero resistance or engagement of anything now either.
Any ideas? I hope it's a fuse however the unit still works just cannot change any setting

Try disconnecting your battery for a few minutes - it may just an electrical hiccup... Oh, also speaking of your battery if the connections are nasty now would be a good time to clean them up. I use a heavy grit sandpaper for the posts and my pocket knife to scrape the cable connectors.
