Has anyone here gone with lighter wheels and/or tires and actually felt a difference in performance? How about gas mileage?

Just got my TE37's after a 8 month wait. They are about 17lbs for a 17" wheel vice my Summit Dakar at 23.5lbs in 17". I'll let you know how they ride but I do plan on moving up a tire size so it might now make a difference haha!
