Stellar built does them but they are a bit pricey.

No, I think they are less than that. It is one of the services I am going to do soon but I want to do mine and make sure I know all the ins and outs of it before I start committing to others etc.

There's a couple outs, haha. I've done a bunch of them on Tacoma's and I make the plates myself but I haven't made the template for the 4 runners yet. I think they're the same but I want to make sure when I do mine haha

    Hi all…
I’m up in Truckee/ Tahoe area. Looking to find a shop that could install a suspension upgrade kit for me. I think I’m going with Dobinsons. Anyone got ideas for a reliable shop? I could come down the hill or the other way to Reno too. TIA

Stellar Built is 50/50. They do work but they are expensive and you need to be very clear with what you are asking them to do. They milked a buddy of mine pretty well. There really aren't any shops I would take mine to unfortunately.

I’d stay away from Stellarbuilt . A friend of mind had them put a 3” Dobinsons MRA/MRR on his truck and they didn’t set the coils properly on the shock (about an 1 1/2” off), didn’t set to the height he requested, drills several holes for airbag valves, left off the bushing on one side, but had on the other, and scratched his truck. The worst thing was he asked for 314 coils and they bait and switched him and put on 302s (304s?) without telling him. He found out the coils were wrong a several weeks later after he saw the tag left on the coils. There excuse was thats all Dobinsons was sending them. Still doesn’t relieve Stellarbuilt from doing the right thing. He said, communication with Stellarbuilt was awful. What should have been a 1-2 day job took over 4 days. My friend doesn’t live in Sacramento either about 1hr 30 minutes away and took multiple trips to get fixed and was still not 100% right. He was just tired of dealing with their incompetence. He has pictures of everything Stellarbuilt did and didn’t do. He got the receipts. There is more to this story, but so difficult to type via phone.

I recently went to Hunters 4x4 out of Citrus Heights for a BMC. They were great! They knew up front I had time constraints and had two guys working on my truck at the same time. Knocked it out in a little over hour I believe and did more then just a standard BMC, they took care of pinch welds and hammered back the wall so I wouldn’t have to do that later if I were to decide on going bigger tires. Awesome work and good people. You don’t get that at Stellarbuilt

Hunters 4x4... I am going to make a list on the first post for us to "shop share". This is a question that comes up often. I do my own work typically bit it is still good to have a list for everyone. Thanks!

Doing some side work this weekend. This thing is pretty insane. Regeared, front and rear ARB, Rtt, solar etc etc... Not much it doesn't have. I'm changing the King springs from the 600's to the 700's and doing the needle bearing swap.

This is unfortunate!! I’m not sure why I didn’t get notifications on updates. I actually just gave Stellar Built a deposit this week! I had heard some other great things about them… but now there’s 2 bad posts. Ugh.

Sucks you didn’t get the notifications beforehand. You might want ask for your deposit back or take the loss. You could also have them complete the install and hope they provided the components you have agreed upon and installed correctly the first time. Hopefully, Stellarbuilt doesn’t pull a bait and switch and sets the coils properly. Wish you luck.

People who believe they do good work probably haven’t done any research on the products, how a lift is to be installed, and not sure how to recognize if something is wrong and out of place. I am assuming this though…

You are definitely assuming. I did all the work on my 98 limited years ago. I didn't want the hassle of doing fronts and UCAS on my new ORP with KDSS, but definitely knew what I was looking for. The job they did was phenomenal and the alignment was specd great and drove great. I had heard a lot of good things and when I went there last year, they were true. Took them 3 hours.

But again, with labor issues everywhere, who knows. Maybe the move+ hiring QC is not helping them.

The things I have heard and seen were before their move and have continued after the move. A bait and switch doesn’t have anything to do QC, it has to do with being a reputable company and communicating with the customer regardless of customer experience or knowledge. From my personal experience reaching out to them and hearing what others have experienced, there communication is awful. Of course, this might not be the case with everyone’s experience. It sounds like you had a good experience with them and they did quality work for you.

It is unfortunate. I don't know anything about Hunter's 4x4, but if it follows anything like the service industry, I'd venture a guess and say they have had some mishaps.

Before this topic went live, I would've vouched for Stellar.

Handing the keys off to someone is a risk you take when you're at a shop, and the hands on your rig aren't yours. But you're right, there's a lot of trust and communication is key.

I can only share my experience about Hunters 4x4 on a BMC. They were great with communication, understood my circumstances and time constraints. They also did more work than what I thought on a BMC. You’re right, they probably have had issues as well that we may not know or have heard about. At the end for me, I’m glad they picked up the phone and called me back. They did me a solid.

Very good point about handing the keys to someone else.
