So I am getting the itch to maybe change my running boards to black chrome with gun metal wheels. When I ordered my 21 neither were available at factory.

Does anybody have any pics of one with both. It is hard to find something just like it. It would be nice to know what it would look like before.

I must be crazy it’s only got 576 miles.

Below is what mine looks like now. I am on fence to make changes or not. Planning to Xpel the front in spring

Truck looks great as is…. Take your time and shop around to make sure you know what you want and need to make it your own.

the TRD gun metal grey wheels come in both matte and gloss finishes. the gloss is noticeably darker. just an FYI to help make sure you get what you want.

btw- I swapped running boards and bought TRD wheels when my '22 only had 37 miles on the odometer..... so don't feel bad.

If you are thinking of getting bigger tires and thinking of buying these TRD Wheels its a big NO from me. These TRD Pro wheels are no good for bigger tires like 285/70R17. Your stock TRD Offroad wheels meet the minimum witch to run bigger tires like 285/70R17 or even 34in 285/75R17 tires. Paying extra for less functionality may not be a smart choice.

If you do a google image search for the 2020 Venture Edition you will get some good images--the gunmetal were standard on the Venture that model year.

Thanks guys I was thinking maybe a more aggressive looking tire but I am not going to be off road guy.

My primary use is towing my aluminum fishing boat to walleye fish. I just thought it would look nice.

Ike68 thanks for posting that is sharp!

I am probably thinking too much but wondering if my brushed aluminum running boards would should be changed out if I went that route. I appreciate you taking the time to post

I need some kind of step so was wondering the same…I think with any other paint color it wouldn’t look right but with silver paint it’s a silver-on-silver look and not to busy.

Yeah you know it’s funny I saw exactly what I bought once and really liked it so that’s what I ordered. I agree the silver with sliver sort of works.

It was not until I joined this site and saw different wheels etal and more of people customizing the look that I started to change my mind and get ideas.

I agree with this. I initially wanted to change it to darker wheels, but silver 4Rs look great with silver stock ORP wheels. I looked at not only 4Rs, but other silver cars and their wheel colors. If silver on silver is good enough for James Bond's Aston, I figure it's good enough for me... hahaha. As I was doing research, I also learned about wheel offsets for getting larger tires, so I'm glad I didn't immediately pull the trigger on new set of wheels. Silver wheels also hide dust better if you use it to tow to fishing sites. I'm toying around with just painting the toyota logo in the center caps to make it my own. But otherwise, I'm really happy with how silver on silver looks. I think that classic color combo will age well.

It’s funny you say that Mark. I had dinner with my Dad tonight and discussed this with him prior to your post. He commented the same thing that it’s a classic look and since I hope to keep it 20 years he suggested I keep it as is. He said silver wheels have been around forever which is true as you’ve pointed out the 007 Aston Martin.

I guess there is no rush if I do change it. I thought it’s a good excuse for new tires as I read about my Dunlop’s.

It’s funny because I have never really “customized” a car and it’s neat how 4R owners do.

Funny, @mac1usa, I never 'customized' a car before too. I always said I'd spend the money and go to Hawaii vs doing something to my car. But buying a 4R is an emotional purchase. Most will say they purchase 4Rs for reliability and longevity. For me, I like to see it as my truck being loyal to me. I trust this truck to be there for me when I need it's performance and durability. Kind of like my life long friends that I've been blessed with. So, I may justify it as a practical purchase, but if I'm honest, it's a very emotional and personal purchase for me. As such, I want to personalize it and make it my own. I live in LA where people buy cars that they can't afford to impress people they don't like. 4R owners are different. We value this truck because it has characteristics that we value. Aaaaand... it's a really cool looking truck!

OP got me thinking about different wheel colors now. Lol. I still love the silver wheels, but this gunmetal blue looks good to me. Pardon the hack photoshop job, but I'd thought I'd share here.

    Hey Mark

Thanks for sharing that does look pretty good. I wonder though if you are forced to get a lower profile tire with that style of rim.

You probably do not have the same pot holes in California as we do here in MI. I think these low profile tires look great but they get eaten up by the pot holes here.

I am not knowledgeable though about how wheels and tire combos go together. So maybe you could get a thicker tire

I like the photo shop though nice job. It’s amazing the combinations that are out there
