Has anyone removed the "tissue holder" from the lid of the center console? I find it useless, and it impedes closing the lid if the tray isn't full forward.

Funny you ask that, I just thought about the same thing yesterday. I'd assume a dremel is what's needed.

Once you start using your small tissue packs they proceed to fall out. Okay idea, poor execution.

It looks like it should pop out, but no matter how I try to move it, it appears firmly attached. I could always just break it out.

Very easy. It’s held in with tabs. It pops right off - just tug from bottom. Use a flag bladed plastic trim tool to start it if you feel the need.

Yes, it looks like it just pops out, but no matter where I tugged it wouldn't budge. Maybe because it's quite cold and the plastic is less malleable.

In any case, a warning. I broke it out and discovered that the lid still doesn't close unless the tray is full forward because of the slight upward shape of the console toward the back. So, if anyone's main reason for removing the tissue holder is to be able to close the console lid in any position it won't help, though I think I can modify the tray to make it work.

    Yes

I trimmed a bit of the lip off both sides. Now it doesn't need to be full forward for the center console lid to close.

2 things I miss about my Tundra, 38 gallon gas tank and a center console a small family could live in.

Same here plus the 381 hp and a smooth, stable ride. But the 4R serves me better now.

I'm a compulsive oil level checker (used to own a Subaru) and the tissue holder is perfect for stuffing my collection of torn off gas station paper towels to check the dipstick with.

A small piece of velcro on the tissue box and console lid solved that problem for me. Unless you're stacking things really high in the console, there's nothing gained by removing the tissue holder.

i'd prefer a light spring loaded panel to keep the plastic tissue package in place. with static pieces there is no adjustment to to the holder, and mine fall out into the tray below.

however, i have no interest in removing the tissue holder as it doesn't interfere with the tray i added to the console.

If your tissue package is plastic, we're probably using something different anyway. I bought a box of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LIB6C84

From what I understand, the holder was designed with these in mind, but somewhere along the way the tissue company made the box slightly smaller which makes the fit not as snug. That's why I added the velcro tabs.

Saw a pic on another website... might have been T4R... where the guy has a couple of "Bulldog Clips" snapped onto the edge of the tissue holder, with one set of grips flipped up, to retain the tissues, and the other set flush against the bottom of the holder. That's what I'm going to use... got plenty of the clips in the office, and its simple and fast... And since I come from a long line of folks with overactive sinuses... Yeah...

Thats what I did with my Glock 30 in my 2007 Expedition. In holster it seemed as if it was made just for that purpose.
I found the tissue box in the back of my new to me Off Road. It didnt last more than 2 hours before it met an untimely demise.

None of the products listed actually fit correctly. The Angel Soft ones are pretty close, but the box is too big. I ended up designing a 3D printable box that fits, kind of, that holds about half of a box of the Angel Soft tissues.

I ripped mine off because I wanted more room to put stuff into the center console. You can fit a DSLR without flash in there.
