Not enough power to kick the starter bendix out

Hi all, my 99 sr5, started acting out when changing shifter knob , I realized the new one wouldn’t work and I reinstalled it, from that moment the truck wouldn’t start, so I had to crank it by the starter relay under the hood, now that’s worn and it won’t crank at all. I replaced the relay, the battery, starter alternator and such and such, now I am to this point, after removing my starter, having orielly test it, the bendix kicked out fine, so I reinstalled it and bendix still isint kicking out, it’s not getting enough juice I think, the battery is showing 9.55volts so I don’t know. I just installed new battery terminals and torqued all grounds I could find, anybody????please help

 

Sounds like a short\drain somewhere.

Battery should be 11.5v+ when car is off.
Disconnect a battery terminal and check battery voltage. If it remains 9.55v, leave disconnected, and recharge overnight. If it's then reading near 12v, reconnect and check the voltage. If it drops...disconnect immediately and look for a short.

 

Torqueing the grounds is one thing. Making sure both ends of each one are CLEAN, IE: bare, shiny, metal, is absolutely essential. Especially the wire itself. Corrosion can get down inside the insulation, and cause the strands of the wire to break. Good idea to ohm both positive and negative wires, especially off the battery (battery acid is killer to the wiring inside the insulation!), end to end, while moving them around to see if the strands are broken and separating during movement.

Having said all that, what Mr. Neg above said is the probable trouble. If you battery passes a load test at an auto parts store, and you can ask for one specifically, you have a short to ground that you shouldn't someplace. Be aware that a battery can have a cell shorted internally, and it'll charge OK, but then drain down pretty quickly just sitting there, preferably on a piece of wood/plywood. Insulates the case from earth ground.
Charge it up, then pull everything off of it. Check the voltage as soon as it's done charging. Let it sit an hour or two with nothing connected to it. If the voltage on it has dropped significantly, you have a shorted cell. Otherwise, follow the advice above to look for a short.

I got brand new terminal for negative and still bendix kicks but not turning over, I’m gonna check the voltage now, I charged it up to 12v, and I’ll let you know how it’s colts read after 4hours
