    Hi All,

Newb - first time posting. I made the controversial decision to upgrade my SR5 Premium with the TRD Pro Fox Suspension. I bought from a private seller on a different forum (don't mean to defame anyone), and pre-paid with PayPal with the understanding that funds would be held until I clear them after receiving the product.

Unfortunately, the parcel arrived yesterday, FedEx, and it was trashed. The components were not well-packed, to begin with, and with the abuse of the parcel the components suffered scuffs/scrapes and general abuse.

I am concerned about superficial scratching to the black anodized aluminum parts, hoping that weather/elements/salt will not cause corrosion.

Anyone have any comments they can offer to encourage or concern me?

Additional to that, the red front coil springs got dinged up, and there is one spot about an inch long where the red paint/rubberized coating completely wore down to the bare metal.

Am I being too picky? I got an okay price on these ($1600), but not a steal..., and, I bought them on the pretense that they were Used - Like New, freshly taken off a '22 TRD Pro with < 1K miles on them.

My main concern isn't cosmetic, nor is it that they will suffer decreased function, but will the damage cause premature deterioration (rust/corrosion)?

I am looking to negotiate with the seller to say that I want a price concession to replace the coils. However, after half a dozen calls to various Toyota dealerships, this morning, no one can confirm that the coils are available as replacement accessories, apart from buying the entire suspension kit ($2800).

Does anyone know whether these coils can be sourced, individually? I'm after OEM and not a mod setup.

Ultimately, if I would do better to just back away from the deal, I'm prepared to (not looking forward to communicating with the seller that he needs to pony up to have me repack and ship back to him on his dime..., but oh well.:()

    Thanks in advance!

The guy you bought these from doesn't seem like he wanted to collect his money very badly if that was how he packed them for shipping. If it were me waiting on $1600, you better believe they would be packed for shipping to arrive exactly like they left.

I have a hard time believing those came off a '22 in that condition, unless you think it's all attributed to the poor packing/shipping damage.

You haven't mentioned where you live, so the risk of further damage by rust and/or corrosion would be dependent on the (mostly) winter road conditions in your area. Where I live, none of those dings would affect the life of the components in the least. But I'd still want some compensation for the crappy shipping if it were my purchase.

Have you communicated any of this with the seller yet?

    Thanks, @glwood54.

I live in Colorado. Certainly, our fair share of cold, snowy winters. We don’t see the salt treatments used in the Northeast, though.

I have expressed my concerns to the seller. He is not being combative, but neither is he leading the conversation with any offers of concession. I just want educate myself before asking for either a concession or sending them back.

p.s. this is the package, as it arrived off the FedEx truck :D

Good thing the guy that packed those isn't on this forum, because I'd have to hurt his feelings by telling him he did a shit job.

Prep and paint the scuffed spots, they'll be good to go and work for ya for many years to come.
