I have a 2000 Toyota 4Runner SR5 and I need a new front bumper (and fender). I am trying to determine if it's a Sport or not since that seems to make a difference. I read on one of 1000 posts today that ALL Sports in 2000 had hood scoops standard. Is that true? Mine does not. Does that DEFINITELY make it a non-sport (unless someone switched the hood)? It has color matched fender flares but chrome bumpers. When I try to buy a chrome bumper I get messages saying for Non-sport only. My original bumper did have the color matched flares extend down on it. Besides the looks, are there different fitting issues with Sport vs Non-Sport bumpers? I prefer the paint matched bumpers vs the chrome but obviously need it to fit. I need everything from the lights down. Is there an economical steel bumper that looks better and would be a similar price to the OEM type? BTW I ran a VIN search that didn't help and actually said it was a manual which it is not. If it helps the VIN is JT3HN86R7Y0264101. Thanks.

I have a 2002 with the chrome bumpers. I think my car uses the same bumper as you have now.

I also think your car, if it had the SPORT package, came with PAINTED bumpers. This is the difference between SPORT and non-SPORT.

I believe the only other issue, is that there are holes needed for the fender flares.

So if you want to stay chrome, get the chrome bumper WITH or WITHOUT fender flare holes. I replaced mine after a fender bender with a cheap ebay one and could only find bumpers WITHOUT holes and I just drilled them. No issues. Body colored fender flares fit the same.

If your car came with the sport package, I think bumpers were painted and the hood had a scoop. But like was posted, your vin shows your car has been through the ringer and probably has more base level parts.

The mileage doesn't match up and the service records I have span its entire life before I had it and are all in CO so I don't think much if any of that VIN is my vehicle.

Are you saying the chrome bumpers are exactly the same with or without holes? The fender flares just bolt right over them? Do you know if the paint matched bumpers are interchangeable? I like that look much more. I have no doubt it has had a troubled past. I bought it at an auction with body damage.

Yes. The plated bumpers are the same. If you have fender flares, you need to drill holes if you get a bumper w/no holes. That is what I did.

Paint matched bumpers should be the same shape as the plated. I can't see TOYOTA making them any different. Maybe if they were plastic...but not metal.

Looking at the parts that bolt to the metal bumper, only the front plastic fascia has multiple part numbers and only those reference the color. So there is no distinction on SPORT/vs Chrome.

I am not sure why most of the cheap bumpers on Ebay say with or without sport package only. I guess they are covering their asses that it's the exact match as the one being replaced. Thanks for your help.
