Best use for this in the center console

I have no idea what this is used for. Wondering what others use this little space for?

The 4R has the most useless center console in the history of automobiles. If it’s one thing I hate about this car, this is it.

We bought a new house a few months ago (well, a used house, from the 70s) and I am still trying to figure out what all the various switches do. I actually was going around the exterior with a radio and having my wife inside switch things off and on in an attempt to find what controlled what. Some switches controlled exterior lights on the opposite side, things that made no sense. We still couldn't figure out about seven switches. I subsequently labeled the oddly placed switches and the ones we couldn't determine got a label stating: "NO ONE F'IN KNOWS"

Oh, and that little guy in the post above? Don't worry about that little guy...

 

We had a bunch of those, too. There's one left. In my bedroom, next to the bathroom door. We're pretty sure it does nothing.

 

We have a '70s house that we remodeled and had the same switch mystery for a number of rooms. Discovered that they were switches to control wall outlets so you can plug in a lamp and turn it on with the switch instead of having to find the lamp in a darkened room.
On the mystery 4Runner switch I kinda like not knowing,
