1.75" Front 1.25" Rear lift question

    Hi all,

    I have a 2020 4Runner SR5 with 4WD (FXFN wheels that has about 1" offset, Toyo Open Country AT3 265/70R17 tires) and am interested in getting a mild lift on it for mostly aesthetic purposes/handling gain. I do wish to maintain the factory rake, or decrease the rake ever slightly, because I do tow my boats/bikes hitch often with it.

    Planning on getting Bilstein 5100 Adjustable 0-2.5" lift shocks, 2 front and 2 rear shocks. Wanting to lift the front by 1.75" and also lift the rear by 1" or 1.25" with spacer to keep the rake for towing. In the end both front and back is elevated by an inch or so.

    So besides the set of 4 shocks and a spacer, is there anything else that I would need to get? Is a bump stopper necessary in my case? What spacer would you recommend?

    Would a new set of longer and stronger rear spring be better than a spacer? If so what would you recommend? I tow boats and bikes hitch so would a new stronger spring be better to minimize that rear sag when towing? (I don't think I want to deal with air bags at this time)

    Also I would not mind spending more on shocks if the next step up is worth the expense. I do 90% on road with occasional forest roads.

    Kfish, did you ever get an answer on this or pull the trigger on a setup? I am looking for something very similar and for the most part have the same use

    The key is weight.

    If you are going to do forest roads and carry any kind of cargo (you're towing boats, so that's a step above), you will want to skip leveling so you don't end up doing a poor job of a Carolina Squat.

    If you want a good shock system that will handle both your towing and forest roads, take a look at the Iron Man 4x4 2" foam Cell. the springs are beefier than a Wendy's classic triple. (and the price is not eye-gouging if you self-install). I am running it with a 2" lift on the front and back and I have no issues towing heavy stuff.

    Its been doing fantastic! True my boats are not that heavy but I did have to drive 5 adults home in the back (snowpocalypse day) and didn't notice any sagging either :) 3 in the back and 2 on the 3rd row seats.

    My recent recheck on the stance is that the rear is about 3/4 inch higher than the front. That was what I was looking for.

    I've actually read your write-up before, great job! Your stance is exactly what I'm looking for right now. I am set on the height I want thanks to your posts/pictures.

    I just keep going back and forth between the 5100s w/ the Eibach rear spring OR if it would benefit me more to purchase 2.0s like the Eibach's you have.

    I guess I'm picky, that's why I went with the 2.0. That way I can really fine tune the front lift and stance.

    Because you were in the same boat ;) (ha!) before your decision. Was the adjustability of the 2.0s threads vs the 4 level collars on 5100s the only factor?

    Yes, that was the reason why I picked the Eibach for the front. There's also the minor driver side lean issue as well, 2 birds with one stone ;)

    The rear Eibach would provide one inch of lift, that what I was looking for, moderate amount nothing too crazy.

    Awesome! Guess I'll save a few extra pennies for the Eibach stage 2 lift with bump stops. :cheers:
