What an open ended question this is.
    • What kinda driving do you do?
    • Where are you located?
    • Do you off-road?
    • What size are you looking to go?
    • What manufacturer do you prefer?
    The list goes on…

I would get 315/70/17 Nitto Trail Grapplers.

btw… nice lift. Looking forward to seeing more pics. What kinda lift did you get?

    Rough country leveling kit.
Just quick trips on the beach and regular around town driving. No crazy off-road stuff. I don’t have any manufacturer preference. Not sinking in sugar sand is my priority. I don’t think that size is fitting without modification?

Okay you are going to want something that floats then. I would go with either 295/70/17 or 285/75/17 if you are okay with clearing a couple body parts out of the way.

I know Matt from Matt’s off-road recovery deals with marble sand. He has Milestar Patagonia M/T radial tires if that helps. If he can get through that crazy soft sand you should have no problem. However. I would recommend some recovery boards for safety and an air compressor to deflate the tires.

Oh and I would look at different wheels that allow you to bring the air down quite a bit. I believe Method has a wheel with beadlock technology that is DOT approved. It isn’t actual beadlock but they do hold onto the tire darn good compared to stock tires. The wider your tire you will need to be careful to get wheels that will fit the width.

I’ll check those out, thanks. I think the 285/75/17 is what I’m leaning towards.

That is what I have. I did a BMC and that is practically it. Granted I have a different front bumper. I still have some minor adjustments to make. I also have an aftermarket UCA. You can see my build here:

Nice. I plan on taking my wife out there for a date weekend away from the kiddos. Looking to hit Cape Lookout.

Yeah I might have gone a little overboard. :spending: But I have never done that before and I plan on keeping the rig for a long time.

Running boards came off today. Take offs are inexpensive, I like those.

Mine are 265's. Here's my logic.......

I am in DFW, most of my playtime is out in the Ozarks in Arkansas and southern Missouri. I got to drive HOURS before I can do any proper overlanding, so gas mileage and quiet tires is a priority.

My plan is eventually to go with 285's, get a BMC, and get a re-gear. Since you are in NC, you happen to be close to a great place in Raleigh that does Re-gearing. As already mentioned above, if you are in the sand, you want the bigger tires for a wider foot-print when you air down.

Grant did bring up a good point though if you can get those Method's with the Fauxlock or anything with a beadlock, that will be a massive difference to let you air down significantly. I'm only comfortable going down to 17-15Psi. Dudes with beadlockers can go to 10 or less if they are adventurous.

Yes, lower is better, the one time out I ran them at 18 in the 4Runner. I ran the Tacoma at 18 but that was much lighter. The 4Runner felt like if I took my foot off the gas it was all over.

Also I’m only about 10 miles from the beach.
