So I think pulling out my neighbors tree stump in 4-l. ow is coming back to bite me in the rump.
I have a little problem with reverse now, It's how can I put this , SLIPPING ! like I'm about to not have reverse anymore, like a clutch going out only in reverse.
    How can this be?
My truck is a manual so. . . any knowledge would be greatly appreciated .

I'm guessing automatic? Reverse is not a beefy gear designed for pulling, it's simply designed for backing up and backing up trailers. You probably have some slippage in the automatic tranny clutch packs I'd guess.

Anytime you hear an engine revs but tires aren't turning, there's a clutch somewhere slipping, and burning off the coating it uses to grab the plates.

Hmmmm, then I'm really not too sure bud, hopefully someone else will chime in. The good news is a manual tranny is simplier than an auto, so if a repair is needed it will be easier and less expensive.

Do you get any slippage when you take off in 1st or 2nd gear if you are getting on the throttle a little? That would indicate your clutch. Otherwise, it might be your actual reverse gear in the gearbox.

I'm not sure what to do with the information, just asking these questions are pre-answered for someone who's more familiar with it.

Also, ask the same question on , there's a big community there too.
