This past week I went up to the Lake Arrowhead area to play in the snow. My first "mod" for my 4R was Kumho all-terrain tires and they worked great in the snow. I also had chains and gave them a spin but they were totally unnecessary.

Unfortunately the 18 was closed due to a sinkhole, so I wasn't able to get to the Cloudland Truck Trail, so I will have to save that for another trip. I was able to get close to the trail via a road near the CSU San Bernardino campus (via the Gaia GPS app) but there was a big rock blocking part of the trail and I don't have rock sliders yet so I will have to check it out next time.

This was my kids first extended time in the snow and they had a blast. We stayed in the Crestline area via a couple AirBnb's and it worked out just fine. We mostly sledded but also did some ice skating at SkyPark, made a couple snowmen and had a pretty epic snowball fight.

There were lots of cars on the side of the road on Wednesday when the snow really started to come down in the Lake Arrowhead area. It turned entirely to rain where we were staying which made getting out of Dodge so much easier.

Overall it was a great first trip. I look forward to heading back up when they get another good snowstorm. We were given a raincheck (snow check?) for our trip to SkyPark since most of the park was closed down due to the heavy amounts of snow.

    Looks like a good time!

Did you go with the Road-venture AT51? I had a set of those on my Tacoma and was very pleased with them especially for the price.

Yes, I did. They were recommended by someone on this very forum and I have to say they did a really nice job in the snow and ice. So thank you to the person who recommended them!

I think I recall someone bringing them up on a tire thread. I may have commented on them as well as I was very impressed with them overall.

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
    Looks like fun.

We went from 75F on Friday to 15F yesterday and today. No snow. I figure if it's going to be cold, I would love to have some snow to go with it.
