I am about to order a 2022 ORP. There is a “Off-Road Premium Plus” package available that lists Softex trimmed seats and a multi-terrain monitor. If the vehicle comes standard with Softex trimmed seats, is the multi-terrain monitor worth buying? Seems pricey to me for what you get.

It is basically just a 360 view camera. We ordered it because the 4runner does not have the front and rear parking sensors everyone was accustomed to having.

Thank you for your reply. That makes sense. I think I would like that so I will include it.

I think you just got a new 4R. So it's only a 360 view? Thought it was front, back, sides and bird's eye view?? Perhaps that's only on the Pro?

My 22 ORP has it spec'd and I was glad to see it. Front cameras are so useful offroad on steep uphills

My '22 ORP is in port and has the multi- terrain monitor- plus pkg. I thought it was a bit funky for it to be included with the softex since you already get the softex with the premium trim?? Toyota Jeff does a comparison of the system on a Pro and a Sport. I'll post when my ORP gets in between the 24th and 29th

Unfortunately they use the worst cameras. You would think if you aren't going to change a vehicle for 2 decades that you would at least upgrade the cameras.

You would think they'd be HD. Wanna wager on if Toyota begins offering HD cameras as accessories in the future? I would think the aftermarket will jump on it.

    100% worth it.

I have spent about $100 for just 1 camera. Must have on trails. Especially me being just 5' 5" tall I only see the sky going over an obstacle.
Having 360 camera is so awesome you don't have to worry about passenger side. You can only see driver side right?

Did you get a single front facing camera? What did you get and was it hard to install? I find myself going solo to a lot of places and sometimes wish I had a spotter with me.

Sorry for the hijack, OP!

"Part and parcel" here in Canada. All ORP 4Runners have it along with the Softex seats, KDSS and Moon Roof. I could be wrong but from my understanding the 360 camera angles may be slightly different on the PRO vs ORP. I'm actually surprised at the low light capability of the system on my '22. When in reverse it's spilt screen from backup to 360 view. But I'm old school and prefer my mirrors instinctively. The view button on the dash though is great for showing how close you are to objects in front.

Did your ORP come in? I was curious if the "premium plus package with softex" really is just the camera system or is there some extra softex trim that the regular ORP doesn't get?

Yep. It did come in. Cameras and softex with no differences with the softex. Technically it's $850 for the cameras since the softex is part of the premium pkg. anyway. Seemed a bit sketchy by Toyota's marketing dept. I had been trying to get a ORP for six months as an allocation so I was OK with it. I had searched all over the country and was pretty tired of dealer shenanigans. I do like it and the truck.
Cameras provide 360 degree bird's eye view, front, back and side views. One can toggle the views with a dash button at lower speeds. Not HD cameras but sufficient.

MTM is kind of cool, but as others have mentioned the cameras leave a ton to be desired. If I were actually planning to rely on it often, I would take that $850 and do something aftermarket. The cameras they use must be leftovers as I find it hard to believe anyone would manufacture one with such low resolution and clarity today o_O

I wish they were higher resolution but I love the MTM.

Bottom line, the resolution is sufficient, and it's a good system. I'm glad to have it.

That does seem weird and $850 is not cheap for some cameras, but every time I'm on a trail I realize how useful they'll be so I'll probably try and get them on my next one.

Hey Burnt Taco- my experience was very close to yours- I finally ordered one in Sep and picked it up just before Christmas - out of state (Mountain States- Julian and Michael). Loving it but Wife wants proximity beepers- working on that project!
