Christmas Came Early!!!

So back in early November, I "ordered" a Lunar Rock TRD ORP... The salesman at my local dealer was very great, and it was just a matter of waiting for it to come off the boat... probably next April or May. Well, this morning I fire up my email, and I have one from Ray, telling me that my 4Runner is HERE!!!

Apparently I picked just the right build, and they were able to do a "Port Swap" with another dealer who had mine on allotment, but wanted one that my dealer had coming... I got the TRD-ORP, KDSS, Premium Package, Moonroof...

Just got to tie up the financial loose ends, and bring my new baby home!


Got my Hefty Fab Sliders all ready to install, and then a trip to Discount Tire for MR 306s and 275/70-R17 K02s... Of course that's just the beginning...

As for TSS... My salesman, Ray already had the Master Tech change the PCS setting in TechStream, so that once I turn PCS off, it will STAY off... no arguments or hassles.

Sweet new ride. Hope that Lunar Rock color cleans up better than my Midnight Black '22 ORP. Don't get me wrong I love my black in the sun when it shows the purple metal flake but damn if it isn't a b**** to keep clean and it shows the slightest clear coat scratches from any dirt that's left on it even with a hand wash. Time to get over my OCD and let it be. Damn that almost rhymes.

Everytime I see a new lunar rock, makes me wonder if i shouldve stayed with my first choice instead of AG.

 

I picked Lunar Rock for a few reasons... First, I'm a total space exploration freak (maybe I'll refer to mine as "Regolith")... Next, I figure it has a good chance to hide road grunge and the inevitable scratches better than the other choices... Its a lighter color to help keep down solar heat, and last, I just plain like it!

Seeing all the TRD Off Road Lunar Rocks is making me want to take a hiatus from the forums. I have deposits at three MSRP dealerships and the list doesn’t seem to be moving fast enough. All the non-MSRP dealerships are getting what I want - WTH?! Going on two months wait and with my luck, I’m hoping they fill my spot before the 2023s arrive.

 

What I was told is that I just got lucky... My dealership had an Runner coming off the RoRo, that some other dealership desperately wanted... and said other dealership had a LR ORP just the way I wanted it on the same RoRo... Pure luck... I was expecting to wait until the factory built it, and it crossed the ocean... I do gather that how much effort a dealership puts into looking for situations like this to take advantage of for the customer, varies considerably. As I say, I think I just got lucky...

Yeah, I wanted the Sliding Cargo Deck as well, but the word is that it is being discontinued, and the factory doesn't have any left to build in, so ordering one won't work. If I can get one that somebody took out, I'll do that , otherwise, I'll just design and build my own. The only other thing I need is the Blackout Trim Kit, and Santa is bringing the genuine Toyota article...

 

Nice rig! Congrats! That's the exact rig I want. I wouldn't sweat the cargo deck. You can't sleep in it with that there. Well, I guess you could, but I'd have a kink in my back for a week. ;-)
