I recently purchased a 2000 4Runner and it came with 2 keys, which I believed is called the valet keys, one metal and one rubber. Well the problem I’m having is they both seem to work as intended except when I go to use the rubber key to roll the back window down, it doesn’t work. I can work it fine with the button from the cockpit but when I use the key it doesn’t roll down. If I listen closely I can hear what sounds to be the motor wanting to work. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are you turning the key the right way for it to go down?

Sounds like you'll need to disassemble the hatch to figure it out since the motor is working just not with the key. Maybe a bad relay or lock?

Update: I rolled the back window down using the button, and then went to the rear and was able to roll it back up using the key. However I couldn’t turn it left to roll it back down. I believe the issue is related to my security system because when I purchased the vehicle the alarm would go off and still does I just pulled the fuse so you don’t hear it anymore. Also my driver door only allows me to unlock the doors but not turn the key to re-engage the locks, and vice versa with my passenger door. I’ll try addressing the security issue first. Also in case someone’s wondering, yes I sprayed the keyholes with lube to try and break it free from buildup
