    Hi,
Newbie here. I have a 2018 4runner sr5. 48k miles on it. Love the truck, its my 3rd one. Im keeping this one for 6 year olds first vehicle. Any ways, a couple of years ago i was driving and the drivers seat sank. The seat is electric so I pressed the button to raise it and all i hear is the motor but it does not rise. I manually lifted the seat and it was positioned currently. Months later the seat sank again and i fixed it the same way. Now recently the seat sank and my usual fix is not working. I hear the motor but it doesnt rise. All cables seem connected. My wife is shorter than me, so she cant drive the trunk because its way to low for her. Anyone have a clue how to fix? Any suggestions is appreciated.

P.s.: took it to the dealer and they say its out of warranty, they want to charge me $150 for just checking it

That sucks, I’ve never heard of that problem.

I'm confused, how did you manually lift the seat when it's a power seat?

Sounds like either the motor / gear has stripped or something came loose causing the seat to drop. If it was me I would pull the seat and start taking things apart but if you're not inclined, you're either going to have to take it in to a shop for repair or see about maybe getting a replacement seat, maybe from a wrecked 4R.

@Crank_Mancastle yes i manually lifted the seat with force. but it comes down immediately. it does not stay in the up position. yeah I reeeeeeeaaaallllyyy dont want to pull it apart and start researching. Just thought maybe it was a common issue among us 4runner owners
