I'll need to replace my rear brake shoes soon, the Toyota ones cost over $100. I'm hoping for around $60 price range.

Every time I’ve asked a dealership parts guy for a discount in person, I’ve gotten 20% or a bit more. How many miles on your current ones? I’m guessing a lot. Might want to stick with OEM for a few more dollars.

I have only one record of anything being done on my car, an oil change in 1999, so I have no clue how many miles are on my pads. The 4runner has 177k miles.

Stick with oem, Toyota offers a “premium” pad. Just did mine for the second time at 100k. Never had a problem. Just my opinion...

I've had great success with OEM over the decades. My current 2019 has 80k on the originals. My previous 2001 and 1988 did great with them.

I switched to Autozone Gold pads...lifetime warranty. I have gotten like 3 free sets over the years. 266k miles on my car. I can't say I noticed a difference between OEM and these. I was going to switch back to OEM...they are probably better but free is just too good to pass up.

So that we're on the same page, the 3rd Gen 4Runner uses brake shoes in the back and brake pads in front. The rear brakes don't do much and I think any reputable manufacturer should work. Someone like ACDELCO or Beck/ARNLEY. If you're talking front brake pads, I recommend AKEBONO. You can price check these parts at RockAuto.com.
