I have a 2019 4Runner SR5 Premium. I really like it but I wish it had the extra safety feature like the blind spot sensors in the mirrors. My question is, I believe the Limited has that option and would mirrors from a Limited plug and play for the SR5 Premium? Or do they make any aftermarket blind spot sensors? Any Toyota Mechanics that could answer this question? Thanks

I have the Limited Nightshade and the answer is no sir. I do enjoy the benefit of that feature. Had it on my 2016 Accord and loved it. Too bad this wasn't incorporated on our T4R's...it would have helped!

There are smarter guys on this forum who may chime in with the after market part question.

My guess is that it would require additional wiring aka; different harness and computer.

Funny thing I have noticed with my 4Runner, it seems like little cars love tucking in and driving in my passenger side blind spot. I’ve had a few close calls. Never had such a problem with all my other vehicles. I have to remain extra vigilant.

I guess smaller cars are attracted to our cars. I feel like a big whale with little fish swimming on me.

Years ago I had a 1999 4Runner and feature wise, not much has changed in 20 years. So many much cheaper vehicles are standard now with the blind spot sensors and I wish Toyota would just include it. Your right about cars tucking in on the blind spots.

As far as I've seen not only mirrors has blind spot components rear bumper area also has sensors. So it would be quite a serious wiring to get blind spot monitoring feature.

Pretty sure this is the sensor for one side.

It’s not just the mirrors, you need the sensors in the back, the wiring and who knows what other software/computer changes.

Edit: the below is wrong info, only some of the new 2022 trims have BSM.

All of the new 2022 4Runners have blind spot monitoring built in (as well as rear cross traffic, which I find infinitely more useful). The used car market is crazy right now, you might actually be to trade your car in for a 2022 for really cheap.

Other than that I would look at other more basic options like swapping for the Rav 4 blind spot mirrors or aftermarket spottermirrors.

I do not believe all 2022 4Runner have blind spot. Maybe SR5P, ORP, Limited and Pro.

I've slapped on conex mirrors on every sig]ngle vehjicle I've driven. I drove a service van for almost 30 years, always with a dividing wall. Only visuals was from the side mirrors. Never came close to side-swiping another vehicle.
The wife bitched and complained at first, now I'm read the riot act whenever we get a new vehicle and I haven't gotten around to putting convex mirrors on.

As well, when driving I don't have to move my head left or right more than a few degrees, which is much safer than the rubber-necking I see some drivers do when changing lanes.

The RAV4 mirror mod solves this problem entirely. About a hundred bucks, 15 minutes of your time, and you’re done.

I'm old school but do have a new found appreciation for the BSM and RCTA features the older I get to make up for my shortfalls. And yes my Canadian '22 TRD ORP is equipped with both. But it doesn't negate what I was taught many years ago. It's second nature to shoulder check any lane change or parking lot pullout regardless of the tech and should still be going forward. The tech should be a backup not the primary go to.

BSM is the one feature I miss from my Tacoma. It's interesting that Toyota puts different packages on different models. But, be careful what you wish for. If you're interested in after-market rear bumpers the BSM boxes are hell for the manufacturers of such bumpers to deal with.
