i have replaced all three spark plug wires and installed a new coil in number one position. the light went off and it ran fine for like three weeks. then the motor stutters and the light came on. started it back up and drove fine for a few weeks. after a few miles the light goes back off on its own and runs fine. then the whole scenario will start all over. sometimes it starts right back up. other times it will start and stall in about two seconds. light comes on. before i can get the car home to use the obd11 the light goes back off on its own. in the meantime it runs great. any ideas?
i guess i should have mentioned the trouble code is the notorious p1300.

How do the spark plugs look? Have you had a compression test or leak down test on the cylinders? Are you sure you replaced the correct coil pack?

Yeah pull the plug. Look at the tip and see what it looks like.

Did you buy OEM plugs? Only OEM plugs work right.

Did you swap coils BEFORE you replaced it? If you swap coils and the misfire moves...it's the coil.

Did you buy a TOYOTA coil or cheap Chinese garbage? Chinese coils are notorious for burning up after a month.

For a P1300 (Igniter Circuit 1 Malfunction) the computer is telling you there is something wrong with the circuit. The players are the coil, spark plug, spark plug wires, engine harness and ECM.

Probably not the ECM since the issue went away for a while after you did some work.

Probably not the spark plug wires, plugs and coil as those are new...even if cheap, they last for a bit BUT I wouldn't rule them out.

If I was forced to pick one thing, is that you probably have a nicked wiring harness wire grounding out.
