Don’t even know where to begin!

Hi all I just purchased 2000 4runner a few weeks ago and I’m looking to get it dialed in and add some mods.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    2004

    124k miles

    4x4 limited V6

Here’s list of the current issues it’s having.

Oil leak from gasket (above headers)

    Alarm does not work.

    Key won’t lock all doors.

Doors won’t lock thru indoor button

AC “off” button won’t work at times.

I’m planning on fixing the gasket thru Toyota (homie hook up) $360 plus parts. Not sure I’m daring enough to mess with that.

I plan on doing a full maintenance on it (oil change, fuel filter, radiator flush, front and rear differential) should I use specific brand?

Mods looking to add the following but not sure on brands…

3inch lift- spring spaces (is that accurate?) not sure how reliable they are, a friend mentioned them.

    Air intake-

    Exhaust-

Stereo- Seen a cool thread on the exact same model going to do it myself

Rims-looking for the 16ins AR172 Baja look (found $105 each) they have 20mm offset is that too much?

Tires 245 (found $375 for 4, but might be too small) or 265 75 16

    HD lights-

    Bar light-Considering

    Roof rack-

This is going to be my everyday driver for the next 8-9months (80 miles a day x4 a week) so I want it to last and any fuel economy tips would help too.

    Thanks!

Suspension: I don't think you will find a 3' spacer lift. Usually these are only an 1" or 2. I don't recommend doing spacer lifts, it will cause a pretty harsh ride. Depending on what you are doing I would look at Toytec or Sonoran Steel lift kits. You can even use the Tunra coil-overs and Land Cruiser springs to lift your 4Runner. All 3 of those will be a lot better than a spacer lift. I am running a Toytec 3" lift and love it

Exhaust: A lot of people recommend JBA exhaust.

Tires: If you do a 3" lift most people go with 285/75 or 255/75. I am running 285/75 BFG KO2's

This is my buddies 4Runner running the Tundra coil-overs. He is running 265/75 Goodyear Authority(I believe)

Oil leak from gasket (above headers)

The head gaskets or the headers? Pictures would help on this.

    Alarm does not work.

    Normal

    Key won’t lock all doors.

That is in the actuators most likley.

Doors won’t lock thru indoor button

    Master control switch possibly

AC “off” button won’t work at times.

Normal-You can pick up on that has been rebuilt for around 100 bucks and have a warranty also.

If you have no records of it DO a timing belt job also at that mileage and AGE of truck!

Mods looking to add the following but not sure on brands…

3inch lift- spring spaces (is that accurate?) not sure how reliable they are, a friend mentioned them.

Don't use the spacers, They are total crap and you will be wasting your money. Get a suspension kit-You will be much happier man.

    Air intake-

Don't waste the money- No real gain in a 3.4- many have tried it not really worth the $$$$$. Keep the stock box and you will not have MAF Sensor issues.

    Exhaust-

Rock on man. I'm running the TRD Headers and a custom set up and love it.

Stereo- Seen a cool thread on the exact same model going to do it myself

Kenwood all the way dude. You will love it

Rims-looking for the 16ins AR172 Baja look (found $105 each) they have 20mm offset is that too much?

    Personal Preference on that.

Tires 245 (found $375 for 4, but might be too small) or 265 75 16

33's are the magic number on a 3rd Gen. They WORK! Look at a 285x75x16 after the lift, not before!

    HD lights-
Retro Fit source. All you will ever need man.

    Bar light-Considering

    Roof rack-
    So many options on that.

This is going to be my everyday driver for the next 8-9months (80 miles a day x4 a week) so I want it to last and any fuel economy tips would help too.

Do the Maint. first before anything else or you will be on foot. It will pay big time. If you do a solid 2k in maint on a 3.4 it will last 2-5 years easy!

    Hope this helps
